Throttle problem... or gas pedal... or else??

Post by BadBrew »

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzyxG4TVprsWeird gas hesitation on 50% acceleration. No engine codes except for P0420 for catalytic converter below threshold... Sorry for background sound, it was rain hard that night and filmed with my cell phone... You will hear the engine going bad especially in the last 5 seconds. If I floor the gas pedal, the acceleration goes normally same if I do a very gentle acceleration. It only happens on a 50% acceleration, and no I'm not doing Parkinson on the gas pedal Prime suspects: - Gas pedal sensor- throttle sensor (Seems OK according to my Scangauge II)- fuel injection- Tranny (hope not)- Spark plugs (less than 1 year old, and should do a new engine code...)Any ideas how to repair this?

Will it do it in 1st or 2nd if you let it rev that high at 50% throttle?

Yes it does the same on "L" and "2".Oil level seems a bit too high because it's on the "Hot" marker on the stick even if the engine didn't run for more than a day...

Sounds like it's getting fuel intermittently. Maybe run some injector cleaner through it.Does the fuel pump seem extra loud when you first turn the key on? Or have any difficulty starting the engine?

Starting the engine is somewhat harsh at times... for sure I've heard engines starting faster than mine.I've tried the complete fuel injection cleaning service at a Pennzoil service center, including liquid in fuel tank, throttle and brake vacuum line.I also tried a Seafoam treatment that was only injected in the vacuum line to clean the Catalytic converter and it almost repaired the engine code P0420 which appears much less than before. Might try it again.

I'd almost say that your fuel pump is acting up.
