I was driving through town when i passed the VW dealership. There sat a 20th Anniversary Edition GTI. It was a bright blue, with 18's and some of the nicest seats in the world. My heart dropped. I went and checked it out, and was told every dealer only got one. It was $23,800. I was trying to trade the Vibe, but he would only give me $14,000 for it so it did not happen. I love my Vibe, but if i got the right offer it would have been gone today. Here the GTI website: http://www.vw.com/gti/#
Abyss Monotone GT, 6 speed, Moon & Tunes, Power Group, and 16" Alloys. Soon you can see my Vibe GT at Shadowrealm's car pics but for now it is under construction!
Hey man, I looked at the GTI Anniversary at Joe Holland down in Charleston. They had 3 a few weeks back so he was feeding you some pooh pooh about dealers only getting one. Ok ride, but I like the Vibe better.

VW's are VERY expense! I almost bought a new beetle! (see http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=4281 ) I'm glad I didn't!
‘03 Vibe with 317k and still going.............................
Recently in the Bob & Ray Car Talk syndicated column they were dissing VW for taking the position with a new VW car owner that burning a quart of oil every 1000 miles is "normal". Had a 1986 VW Golf - they couldn't run fast enought to give me another VW.

VW's are nice looking, but not too reliable. I have to have something that will last a long time and will get me safely to and fro. I have to travel alot to remote nowhere land places. VW's aren't known for their great reliability. Plus I would NEVER spend that kind of money on any Golf for that matter.
Thats a nice car man, I would have traded also if the price was right!.......But the VW prices are too high for nothing, thats why My Vibe GT gives me best bang for the buck!
Besides the fact that I think the Vibe looks better, it's a lot more versatile than the Golf. The VW is really small so anything you want to transport will probably be cramped. On top of the fact that you have done all that stuff to your Vibe. I'm not giving mine up for a while.

Call me crazy... but wasn't the whole glamour of Volkswagon in the day, was the fact anyone could afford one? This was what came to my mind when they re-introduced the beetle. I was all pumped up... until I saw the tag. A typical Volkswagon to me was like a good german woman... Sturdy, A Bumpy Ride, Cheap... and available to the Everyman. So now they'vr gotten her some new shoes, and a different outfit and want to jack up the price... no thanks. I'll stick with my Japanese Woman in Hip American Clothes!
Wonderfully spoken. He is exactly right. The beetle is meant for the teen/college student. Only the rich kids can afford one. The GTI to me is the same garbage as the dodge neon RT. Feels like a box, drives like a box. If you want a VW buy a turnkey 356 replica http://www.vipclassics.com/porsche/index.html. That is more reliable than a new VW plus you do not have to spend alot of $$$$ when something breaks. Very cheap to maintain. With the 1600 motor you will not have a problem going fast.
Just here to lend a hand to people who have questions about their Vibe.
I know what you mean I"ve been looking at the turbo Dream Cruiser Series 2 in Tangerine ,these cars have endless possibilities that you can do to them, and the horse power&torque are up thereand what i have read in the Miss News they know how to put togethera huge rally, like Cruise the falls"""
I have to admit even though I own a Vibe now I am still a huge VW fan and eventually will prolly go back to one. I've owned two New Beetles (a GL Base and eventually a 1.8T Yellow Color Concept limited edition). They are very reliable in my opinion. I'm actually the only person in my family NOT to own a VW now. Just 2 days ago my mom bought a Black 20th Anniversary GTI and my sister got a 2Dr Black Golf GL. My brother has a Jetta VR6 that he fitted a GTI Front end to. The GTI Anniv. Ed. is very nice and has a cool little feature....they number them! My mom got like #2827 out of 3500 (Yea goofy things like that impress me). I guess Canada is only getting 200 of these total out of the production line. I got the Vibe cause of its SUVish Characteristics and cause it can haul more stuff. With me going into the Air Force I needed to lower my car payments and be able to haul all my stuff to where ever I get based....you can't put much in a new beetle to be honest and the Golf/GTI don't quite cut it either. Something I think Pontiac should have done that VW does is backlit ALL the controls on the dash and doors. Its not fun trying to unlock the car or roll down the window and not be able to see the buttons at night.
