AC/Heat won't turn off

Sorry if this has already been discussed somewhere. I tried searching for it and couldn't find anything about it.I have an '03 Vibe with 122K miles on it. It was in great condition when I bought it a couple of months ago, but things have gone slightly downhill since then. I've recently had a problem with my AC and heat continuing to blow through the vents after I turn the knob to the off position. This only happens if I turn the AC/heat on while the car is on and then turn the AC/heat off while the car is still running. It doesn't happen if I turn the car off, then back on again, with the knob still in the off position. I hope that makes sense. I love my Vibe, but I'm annoyed with the ac/heat problem.Any suggestions?

I don't know if this is what your talking about, but in my 09 air will continue to come through the vents even with the setting on 0 while DRIVING. If I turn on the recirculation, then it stops completely. Hope this helps!

if the temp is to cold doesnt the car do something like this by default? I havent owned mine in a couple years so I'm slightly out of the loop.
