Harsh, jerky shifting CEL P2716

Post by Flinst0ne »

2005 VibeCEL came on a few days ago at the same time the transmission started shifting hard. Banging into reverse or drive from park, banging into second, third and fourth gear.Went to Advanced Auto to borrow their code reader, and the CEL code P2716 and P2716 Pending codes came back. According to their book, that was the transmission fluid pressure (TFP) solenoid. They couldn't even get the part, but Rock Auto had it for about $15. Since I didn't want to mess with any transmission stuff I called the dealer, first question: "how many miles?" Answer: "84234." "Sorry sir you're over warranty by 4234 miles." I said "but there is a TSB #01406 for that problem on the 2005's, please tell me that you can fix this under warranty, i'm only 5% over the warranty not to remention the fact that this is a KNOWN problem?" answer "Sorry sir we can't."Turns out it wasn't just the solenoid I had to have the Powertrain Control Module (PCM - aka the car's computer) replaced and "FLASHED". The freakin part cost over $300!! Then they had the balls to tell me that "You're lucky" most of those Toyota computers cost about $1,000!!Yeah, I feel lucky.... PUNK!!! $600+I guess I can't really complain too much, I've had the car 5 years, 84+K miles and this is only the second time I've had a problem. The first one was about 10K miles ago Evap cannister. Again a $200 part, plus labor to install $300+ I'm just amazed how much these parts cost.Well, hopefully I'm good to go for another 80K miles. Thaks for letting me vent.
