Christ...went to work this morning in my 04 Jetta. All was right with the world...till I heard on the radio GM is having a firesale on Pontiacs.....a l o n g lunch break and, guess what....So now my Jetta is God knows where....and there's a strange car in my garage parked next to my wife's FX45. Strangely, it looks right at home there. The little Vibe doesn't seem the least bit intimidated or out of place. So a little red 09 with iron rims and a 2.4 that sounds rather smooth with a foot up her (removed), can hold her own when caged with a firebreathing FX45....I like it. This could be fun....Oh yeah...howdy from the heartland!
Now that's what I call an impulse buy... but a good one. The Jetta was only gonna let you down in the end anyway. Welcome to the club!!(D*mn it looks cOlD there.)

Any more Vibes at that dealer? On Jan 10, 2009 I got up and was reading the morning paper - saw a price on a new Vibe that I couldn't refuse considering my $3,000 GM Card earnings on top of that. Called to make sure it wasn't a misprint and was there within 45 minutes writing a check. MSRP $19,480; Net was $13,154 including tax etc. - no trade in. I sold my 2003 privately for $9,500 within 2 weeks.

Comic book guy: "BEST. INTRO. EVVV-ER."Seriously, though. It's a good thing I love my '06, because with the prices on the current Vibes, I would be after a Maroon '09 or 2010 GT in a heartbeat! What's sad, is if you go onto the Vibe page at Pontiac.com, they only encourage you to buy used now. Tear.
Welcome to GenVibe!Way to bring in the New Year with a new car!Great photo! Wonderful weather we're having in Central Indiana, eh?Hope you enjoy your new Vibe as much as I've enjoyed mine.
My 2003 Vibe Base Auto 2-tone Salsa "SalsaWagon" was built in May 2002. I acquired it in Feb 2004/Traded it in on a 2016 Honda HR-V in Feb 2018.

Well it was 12.7* f here this morning, very frosty and a bit windy. I haven't seen weather like this since I left Pa for here in 1995. That winter ('94/'95) it was 0* and windy/snowy for three weeks straight. 6" of very rough ice on the roads that would not go away, and snow banks so high I couldn't see past the parking lot of my apartment building and the sun seemed to go down much sooner too. Some said the wind chill during that time was between -10* to -25*. Keithvibe can probably verify this since he grew up there too. So if you were wondering why I got the heck out of there..... I'm not used to this kind of weather anymore, nor do I wanna be!!'Glad I replaced the factory battery in the Mazda the other day. I don't think she would've started @ 4AM if I hadn't. It lasted nearly 6yrs (build date 02/04) and in lesser weather might have lasted a bit longer.

Nice, and welcome..funny, I also swapped out a Jetta (99) for a Vibe. I often wonder what sort of heartbreak that car is inflicting on its' current owners.

Yup. VW ain't what it used to be, that's for sure. They haven't been very relaible cars (hit or miss it seems) for quite some time now.

Alas, today, we come full circle.
The Vibe lasted longer than the FX45, the wife and one dog.
But yesterday, I took my lil' devil in a red dress for our last ride.
She turned 141,000 on our way to the Chevy dealership, destined to be traded on a shiny new 2014 Silverado Z71.
The $5900 trade allowance was far too good to pass up on.
In the end, the tiny amount of maintenance I put into the devil still amazes me.
One battery.
Four spark plugs.
One set of brake pads.
Front struts. (the rear shocks I bought are up for sale in the FS/WTB forum)
One set of tires.
Oil and filter every 8k, and 5 or 6 sets of wiper blades.
Yes, all the other maintenance was ignored.
Couldn't ask for anything more for five years of freedom to go anywhere without worry of breaking down or spending a fortune on fuel.
Y'all take care, drive fast, take chances.
Catch ya on the Silverado forums.

Too bad you couldn't have kept it AND get the Silverado! That's what I did. Love my new truck ... when I can drive it
