Dog Gate For A 2009 Vibe

Post by ChaoticDisorder »

I have had a great deal of trouble locating a gate/barrier to keep my dog in the trunk space of my 2009 AWD Vibe.A travel crate isn't really an option as she is a fairly large golden retriever who has grown accustomed to riding in the back seats. If anyone has found one that fits well in light of the angle of the rear seats and the contours of the interior ceiling please send me the manufacturer and any additional infomation you can locate on the product. Many thanks.

This one was made with copper pipe, but I suppose you could build it with PVC toohttp://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=7302

When I had the '03, (I just checked my '09 and it would work there, too) my girlfriend had a ten year old golden retriever. I cut a piece of 1/8" plexiglass slightly wider and taller than the space between the seats, then cut one end to the shape of the floor, put that end on the floor and held the top part in place with a bungie cord attached to the front headrests. It worked great and saved lots of time constructing anything. Saved bucks, too. It worked so well and was so cheap that I couldn't understand others not doing it when I suggested it years ago.

not a lot of space back there for a Golden. I have my third Golden (now only 16 weeks old) but I know they crave cool places. Behind the back seat sitting in the sun where there is little air movement doesn't strike me as a favored place.I recently purchased a hammock similar to this from these peoplehttp://www.hunterk9.com/site/8...X2500and haven't enough good words to say about it!It gives him space, it gives him AC, he has windows and the best part of all is that it comes out in under a minute leaving a CLEAN HAIR FREE seat that can be used by a human! This really is a wonderful product. We're teaching him to not jump forward or back and the back is saved for that stuff you need to carry like groceries and other items.I'd shy away from the plexiglas panel, it would block whatever air flow is available if you must do something behind the rear seat.my 2xDave
