I bought an '03 vibe base about 6months ago. I installed a Pioneer head and everything was working great. I also put in an amp and a 12" sub, but that's not where my problem lies. About 2 months ago I noticed that the driver's side front speakers, maybe even the back one(i haven't checked that one out yet to know or not), were much quieter than the passenger side. I pulled the deck out and switched the front right wires with the front left ones to see if there was a problem with the head unit. the drivers side(left) were still soft when they were wired to the right output of the head unit. So I'm pretty sure that the pioneer head is still working properly. I'm at a loss. does anybody know if there is a crossover somewhere that might be going bad? Is it a problem with the wires that are going to the speakers? are the speakers just dying? any help would be greatly helpful. PS.right now I have the audio panned to the right side so that both sides sound even.
It could be a phasing or time alignment issue. If your head unit has time alignment built in toy around with that, if not you could always try to reverse polarity on the drivers side speaker.Aron
Vibe is gone and will be missed as I've gone country style
I don't have a time adjust feature. And I don't think its phase because I tried flipping that when I switched the left and right sides around and there was really know difference. thanks for the thought.
Hi and welcome to GV..!!If you switched right for left and the problem followed, the HU has problems.. If it didn't move, then you have a wiring issue..
Thanks for the welcome and the response. when the HU was first installed everything was perfect. then after some time the left side seemed to be quiet. I did check the HU and I'm pretty sure that its working properly. how hard would it be to run new wire to the left side? is there a crossover somewhere splitting signal between the tweeter and the other driver? Thanks
I just re-read the post and you said you switched sides and the left stayed quiet.. I would suspect a blown speaker(s) you said they are stock, well, stock sucks.. period..
