Moved to Kansas

Post by mac99d »

Well I am stationed at Ft riley Kansas now. Moved there from Ft Stewart GA on May 10th. Was not sure if I was going to like it there, but it is a nice place. I defiantly like the roads better more turns and hills. I know you would not think that in Kansas but Ft riley is in the flint hills I think that’s what they are called. Well I am going to have to have my car retuned for 91 Oct because that’s all they have here. Still need to find someone close to tune the big cam too. Being stationed here has its benefits like not going to Iraq till 2011 yes! So I am hoping that there is another meet before I leave again and I can make it to one. Just seems every time there is a big one I am deployed. PS every one with an 03 to 04 vibe gt or matrix xrs go to speedhut and order some gages please.

1. No 87 octane or just not on the base?2. How does one "retune" for 91? What would be the advantage?

No No I could not run 87. When I put the turbo on it was tuned with 93 octane. The highest they have in Kansas is 91. I need it retuned because running 91 with booster is just not cost effective. If I run just 91 without the booster my motor would knock a lot and destroy its self. I will lose some horse power but save the motor. I did not know Kansas had hills either, but it’s cool.

The north eastern part is pretty hilly actually. most of the ret of the state is flat. Although I think Illinois is a bit flatter. At least between St. Louis and Rockport.

good to hear you aren't overseas just yet. good luck with the retune. i'm not familiar with any of that. and yeah. illinois is pretty flat. up where i live is kinda hilly. but a 30 minute drive west or south and it's all flat. Plains states ftw?

Sorry no tune yet, gota to save money to move the fam to Kansas. I will defiantly let you all know how it goes. Pics, yes it is about time I will post some soon. Got my house on the 10th. Barrowing the internet right now from a friend’s Neighbor. Just don’t tell them I am. Get mine on Tuesday. Met two new soldiers with vibes told them about the web site. One is a base vibe and the other is a gt black with a few mods like CAI and slotted rotors and strut tower. He bought it that way.

Army doesn't pay the family move? Good to hear you are in the hilly part of Kansas. The rest is way too flat and the roads are like grids with 90 degree turns.Get those other two Vibe guys into the forum.

Welcome to Kansas! I posted some areas I like to drive in that are closer to Wichita, but I'll take a look at the map for areas around Ft. Riley and see what there is. I'll be off work the week of June 27th - July 4th, if you have time, we might be able to meet up & have a least a 4 Vibe show.....I didn't know it was possible to put a turbo on a GT, figured the compression was too high.
