Street Bike

So I have been thinking of buying a bike lately....I used to always ride on the back of my dad's harley, and well.. I am getting a little too big for that. So I was thinking why not get my own? (not a harley...)But I have been reading a lot lately, and I was looking at a Ninja 250... they are beautiful. What does everyone think?

that is a very good starter bike for a first time rider. From what I have heard. Back when I was single lol I looked at getting a triumph 600tt. The triumph 600tt will also cost less to insure because it's not considered a sport bike but a sport tourer.

yea def a good starter bike or even a 500-600 as long as its not a 600r or rr would be good. you might get bored fast with a 250. i had my 600 till i bought the ducati and thats a 944 which is a perfect size for me. i just added some D&D pipes to it the other day too it sounds amazinggg

Noob question: I know the more cc is generally more power (bigger engine) but what does the r and rr stand for?

Race, Race Ready.Find a 600, you'll be tired of a Ninja 250 in no time. A YZF 600R, or CBR 600 F4I, would be a great beginner bike.Check on insurance before you go out and buy the bike. I remember getting quoted at $1600/yr for full coverage (long time ago) and that was cheap judging by some of my friends.I think I pay $240/yr now. (still full coverage)

I would recommend staying away from "sport" bikes. Insurance is a killer on those. Definitely get a quote before you buy.

I've owned cruisers and crotch rockets and a number of bikes in between. The Burgman 650 is as much fun as any of them and way more practical than all of them. Ran to the store this morning to pick up a 20lb bag of charcoal.......it fit under the seat with room to spare. Did I mention that with a Burgman I just don't give a shift.

the diff is a bike you swing a leg over. lolI would be scared to do anything more that 30mph on a scooter lol

LOL Burgman's have been known to hang with Gixers in the twisties. I read this a while back on the net - "98% of all Harley's are still on the road....the other 2% actually made it back home." It just blows my mind when I see the muscle shirt, shorts and flip flops, that's like setting the cruise at 30mph in your car, then climbing onto the hood and hope nothing happens.

I stay away from bikes. Unless they are mopeds or require pedals. I would easily kill myself in about 10 minutes on one.

Umm, actually, In PA, the MSF is free for residents. I believe we have one of the largest states for bike riding and we like to keep the riders safe. I would never ride without my helmet. My dad has a bike and I learned all my habits from him. Gear is another story, I will try to wear it most of the time, but I know there will be times I wont due to inconveniences of where to put it.
