Cruise Control Broke, Please Help!!!!

I have a 03 Vibe with a Manual Trans. My Cruise has worked great for a long time. But now there seems to be a problem. Its not working at all. The light comes on sometimes and sometimes it wont, Or it will come and got off buy it self, or just flicker. but no matter what the light does the Cruise don't work. Please help I commute a far distance and really need it. Thanks in Advance!! Tim

Welcome to GenVibe!From your description, it sounds like you might have a light bulb that is loose in it's socket, corroded in the socket, or a bulb with a filament that is broken, but occasionally makes contact, so I'd check: 1) Brake light bulbs2) Center High Mounted Stop Light bulbIf none of them is loose, burned out, or has a broken filament dangling, then I'd check these switches: 3) Brake pedal - the switch that activates brake lights when the brake pedal is pressed.4) Clutch pedal - there's a switch that deactivates cruise when the clutch pedal is depressed.It could be as simple as a putting a spray of WD-40 on the bulb socket or the switch contacts.After that, it probably gets expensive - switches and wiring on the control stalk on the steering wheel, or the vacuum unit under the hood for the cruise control.

Is the cruise control mechanism different with drive by wire?
