Ok...another thread on sprark plugs

Post by Kissfan79 »

Hey guys...I have an 03 Vibe GT with 105,000 miles and I am getting ready to change the plugs for the first time. A couple of questions:A) Denso's website lists 2 plugs for the GT....the SK20R11 and the IK20. Based on user experience here...which would be the better plug to go with for a car with my mileage that is almost 6 years old.B) Has anyone purchased the Denso plug anywhere other than Denso's website? Thanks in advance for any info!Jim

Holy Blast from the past Brutha.Hope your doing well, you haven't been on in a while.Any one of the 2 will work fine, but the NGK IX's are a little cheaper. Now ebay,or any auto parts store should carry them.

Ok...so I went down to local Advance Auto and they had several in stock. They had the Denso IR long lifes for $16.98, the Denso IR powers for $18.98, and the NGK IXs for $6.98 each. Obviously...my first choice would be the NGK IXs. Are the Densos really worth that much more? Also...Good Viberations....I was under the impression that we were only supposed to use iridium tipped plugs.Jim

Depending on the layout of the spark plugs on the GT (i have an auto base), you might need to take out the rail that runs along the back of the engine valve cover to get enough leverage to pull the vacuum seals out. I didnt have to, but it was such pain to get some of the seals out, I highly contemplated it. But yes all you'll need is the 10mm socket and the plug wrench.
