Futur Vibe Owner needs advice?

Hi everyoneI am an owner of a 05' Pursuit that is looking in getting a new ride. I am hesitating between the Cobalt Sport and the 2009 Vibe.Now, that GM stop leasing, resale value is starting to be important. Does the Vibe resale value is average / above average?I tried both offered engines and I like them both. Any advices? (I am rarely on the highway but like a bit of torque on take-off)Thanks! Hope to be among you guys, proud Vibe owners

I don't know about how its rated but i paid about 10k for my 5 year old GT. I think it was around 18 or 19k new. I think thats about 10.5% depreciation per year. But I have no idea how depreciation is rated.

my resale value on my 03 Vibe GT in 2 yrs was 50%. I got HALF of what I paid for the car 2 yrs before. If you plan to keep your car for longer than 2 yrs, then you'll probably be just fine.

Trade-in value is lower - a lot lower - than "resale" if you sell it yourself. Also mileage makes a big difference. Today and in the future I think vehciles with good mpg will return more than the gas hogs, so the 1.8L might get a better % return.I have no idea what is going on in Canada. There was a Chevy ad today featuring a $2,000 extra discount if you leased - they were using JPMorgan Chase and the lease interest rate was said to be 6%.

Thanks all for your advices! It really help.In Canada (and perhaps in the U.S.), GM decided to stop leasing cars since August 1st. Now, they offer a 2k discount for anyone buying with there own financing or a 0% for 60mths or 1.9% for 72mths rate. As I am not driving a lot, and plan to keep the car for at leat 5 years I think the 1,8 will be just fine and will offer a better mpg better than my current G5.

I do agree with Jake that future resale will be even better for Vibes with the good mpg on a 1.8L. Also consider cost to own/operate since most Vibers have not had expensive repairs. Get the Vibe IMO.

the book value on my 2003 AWD vibe this summer was $11000.00 clean on trade in, and I sold it privately for $12000.00

We paid a tad over 14K for our 03 6 years ago. It was the base 5 speed w/power package.We turned it in on a new one with $6900 trade in. Not bad, 50% over 6 years. It had 56K miles iirc.With rebate, employee pricing, and 3K in GM card points, we get a new one w/same options for 7K, out the door, tax/title bs.Fair enough.
