factory alarm - is there a way to make it "beep" when armed?

Post by barnhart_pinball »

I guess I'm used to my old Viper alarm, but I like the fact when I arm it(also locking the doors) it 'chirps' so I know I did it. I end up walking away from the Vibe (and then back) wondering if I set it or not (as it arms silently). Is there a way to change it off of silent so it 'chirps'?I know the parking lights flash, but like I said - I'm used to my old Viper system Thanks for any info...

I'll say it before anyone else does... the Search button does wonders Try this thread... it's a How-To to Make the Horn beep when locking/unlocking. Basically it consists of tying in the signal that comes from the alarm module (to flash the lights) in with the horn. http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=20692

I have an 04 Vibe with the factory alarm. If you have it, there will be a red light to the left of the steering wheel, next to the hatch release button. It starts flashing 30 seconds after you lock the car when it is armed. It works when someone tries to break in or hotwire the car.I believe there's a How To here for modding the fob to get the beep. But, I'm not sure you need the alarm for that.

It has a little blinking LED on the lower left side of the dash when it arms.
