Remote GPS Antenna Location?

Post by michiganwhitetail »

Hey fellow Vibers, I'm getting a Garmin V and I think that it will perform much better with a remote GPS antenna. Question is: How and where do you put one. I know that most are magnetic and can be temporarily stuck onto the roof and routed right out da window, but I really get into adapting stuff like that so it's permanent and looks like a factory job.For example, I have the moon roof and I was thinking about mounting the antenna to the upper side of the sliding cover? Or maybe put it in the back and use the existing radio antenna hole to put one in that area?Appreciate your ideas if you have already solved this! Thanks!

Someone had said something about putting an XM antenna right behind the existing one, routing the cable down into the body using the current mast, and running the cable through the roof with all the other wires...Not sure how one goes about doing that, but...What about sticking it on the dash in the windshield and routing the cable through the defroster vent?
