MSN article with their top ten picks for car movies.http://movies.sympatico.msn.ca...81525Me?I saw Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry about 15 times in a row when it first came out. Peter Fonda, Susan George and a fairly hot '68 Impala, great chase scenes. We would spend all Saturday afternoon in the theatre watching two or three back to back showings, until it left the theatre. (they didn't boot you out back then)

Funny, I collect car movies and have half on that list. I have seen some of the others. My favs are:Christine (excellent movie!)The original Gone In 60 seconds! Great flick. How can you go wrong with Smokey and the Bandit! The CarThe Cannonball RunI also like The Junk Man from the same producer H.B. Halicki that produced Gone In 60 Sec. Sad to see this guy go since he was a HUGE car guy and he would have made more car films I am sure of it!Most of these car films absolutely suck for plots but I still enjoy them for the car action. I am not a big fan of Bullett; one car chase scene, big deal!
1) Bullitt2) Cars (Pixar)3) Canonball Run 4) Smokey & the Bandit5) Gone in 60 seconds (the new one)6) The Car (classic where the car is driven by some mystery man)7) Knightrider (new TV movie, I can't help it, I loved it)
In no particular order:Gone in 60 seconds - (the original was way better than the new one)American Graffiti California Kid Gumball RallyBullittDirty Mary, Crazy LarryTwo Lane BlacktopVanishing Point

THE CAR! I remember that movie now, it was a big black modified Lincoln or something, and apparently possessed.I still remember the scene where it was at the gates of the cemetary, and couldn't go in to kill the people hiding on there.Classic, for a TV movie.

In decreasing order of quality, I'd addThe second "The Italian Job" (2003), for the Mini Cooper scenes in the subway tunnels and Charlize Theron. I saw the original "The Italian Job" (1969) with Michael Caine, and it's a better plot IMO. Still has a car chase scene with three Mini's. "Days of Thunder" (1990) with Tom Cruise. Not up to "Top Gun" standards, but not a horrible racing movie. Certainly better IMHO than the recent "Talladega Nights" Ricky Bobby farce with Will Ferrell."Winning" (1969) had Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward, and Robert Wagner and as a racer at Indianapolis, driving a car very similar to Bobby Unser's 1968 Rislone Gurney Eagle-Offenhauser. They sped up actual race footage from the turns, and the plot was lame, but I got to see them film some pit scenes at the 500 track. Might've started Newman on his off-screen racing career.
My 2003 Vibe Base Auto 2-tone Salsa "SalsaWagon" was built in May 2002. I acquired it in Feb 2004/Traded it in on a 2016 Honda HR-V in Feb 2018.

Smokey & the Bandit.. all of them are great!Redline is ok if you just want to watch the cars, and not the acting/some of the stupid stuff they do w/the cars...I kind of liked the XXX movies (1st one with Vin Diesel)Gone in 60 sec. has the best Ferrari scenes!I hate the movies, but kind of like to watch the cars in the F&F movies (Fast & Furious) same thing for the bike movies... Biker Boyz (gay but like to watch the bikes) Torque (gay, but again like to watch the bikes) and there's another one I have I can't remember the name...
