front end noise on '08

Post by Runnn »

Hello all,I have a '08 silver Vibe (2000 miles approx.) that I love except for one issue? When I go over a bump, drive over a manhole cover in the street or hit a pothole I've noticed a "thud" type noise somewhere in the front suspension. It is really annoying as it makes you think the car is going to "crack apart" or something. Please tell me this is something someone else has heard? I assume it must be front suspension related or perhaps its normal?? I hope not...Thanks, Vince

It might be brake related too since it does not do it when the brakes are applied... caliper or pad issue perhaps?

first of all, welcome to the sitetry the handy dandy search feature. i kind of remember one or 2 other owners with the same or similar problem. but don't remember the outcome...strut related maybe? see if the bolts at the top of the strut towers are tight enough

I would be trying to rock the front wheels to see if something is loose, then maybe grab the springs and rock them to see if something moves.. then under the hood, I would check to see if the strut "top hat" bolts are tight (the 3 around the outside of the strut shaft, not the shaft bolts itself.. )But on an 08' i'd be taking a trip to the stealership..

Welcome!!! If it is so freakin new, take it to the dealership first and use that warranty!! Always warranty it first and then see what needs to be done.
