I'll be done modding this summer! Finally!

Post by BlueCrush »

I'll be doing a little bit of everything: Engine (N/A Performance), Exterior (Wheels) and interior (Speaker upgrade). Then I will be done and can just enjoy driving and cleaning my Vibe.I have spent a lot of money trying out different things on the Vibe. If I could start over I would have went with the performance N/A, 16" aftermarket wheels then A/V mods right away. Everything else I have on now I would have kept the same. This is the first car I have ever modded, so any car that I mod in the future I will do things differently and spend less money (lol). I have enjoyed modding my Vibe, I just wish I knew more then, what I know now so I could have been where I wanted to be sooner that I was.Oh well, it has been a fun journey. I learned a lot about the Vibe and I wouldn't have been able to do it without this site!

Can I be the first one to say "Done? Yeah right!"? Just joking with you BC. Congratulations! I'm glad you're getting it to where you want it to be!

I'm in the same boat as you. So,what are your plans for the engine.I got my uni-chip and intake, springs and cat back exhaust not too long ago,I also got new rims that should be here soon.I will also be boring my throttle-body and got a quote from monkey-wrench racing to do my heads. That will be it for me.lol.Plus I want to thank you for giving me the incentive to do all this stuff.

congrats BC. I'm sure it must feel pretty good to finally be able to say that lol. I decided to take the route u had described where N/A performance comes first. and I'm very glad I chose that. Also, your knowledge has helped me along the way more than you probably know lol, so thanks for all of that I'll have to say though BC, staying on course of your modding plans is sometimes really hard to do. Like I have wanted to buy a sound system so badly at points, or drop a thousand$ on rims. lol. It's hard to not be drawn into the appearance stuff.

I knew someone was going to say that. Thew funny thing is that where I wanted to be has changed quite a bit with what I have learned with the Vibe.Quote, originally posted by kevera »I'm in the same boat as you. So,what are your plans for the engine.I got my uni-chip and intake, springs and cat back exhaust not too long ago,I also got new rims that should be here soon.I will also be boring my throttle-body and got a quote from monkey-wrench racing to do my heads. That will be it for me.lol.I am going to be getting pulleys(yes, for the last time), TRD CAI, different color STB & Oil Cap, Helix TB Spacer(yes, for the last time), Blue Ground Wires, Weapon-R Throttle Rotor(I'll be untightening my throttle cable for this to work so it will idle normally), E-manage/Unichip with a Camcon, Crower Cams: Stage-I or Stage-II(If the results are good from NC.org) - My main concern is for maintaining a smoother idle, if possible. I will also be dumping my big (removed) resonator and replacing it with a Hushpower I resonator and muffler, while keeping my existing muffler. So, yes, two mufflers. lol Then I will get it dyno tuned after everything is installed.Funny thing is I have been so close to having various this set-up at various stages so many times. lol. It has just clicked recently that this is what I was really wanting all along.Quote, originally posted by tcam »congrats BC. I'm sure it must feel pretty good to finally be able to say that lol. It is has been very hard to stay on one couse with modding when there are so many things you can do, if you have the money.

may i ask why 2 mufflers? having 2 would defeat the performance purpose wouldn't it?

The current resonator (48"x5") doesn't cut down thin interior resonance enough. I consulted my exhaust guy and he said that going this route would be best for me to cut resonance and sound while maintaining performance.Quote, originally posted by HawaiiPontiacLover »Your Neptune always was stunning...no matter what you did with it! Thanks, HPL. When I am done it will be close to what it was, looks wise.

I just have to say that I look forward to seeing the finished product. Your vibe was one of the first modified vibes I had seen when I was looking for ideas for mine. It has always been a favorite of mine.

I will not be using a TRD CAI - will be staying with my stock airbox and the TRD S/C plastic intake tube that runs from the airbox to just behind the fog light. Got the STB, Oil Cap, and Helix TB Spacer. I went with silver Lineage 4 gauge ground wires and a Bellon Voltage Stabilizer. No Weapon-R Throttle Rotor. Went with the Camcon only(hardwired). No Cams. And got rid of my resonator and added another muffler so I am running a 2 muffler/No resonator set-up. I also installed Fatmat Sound deadening. All installations will be complete this month so all that will be left is dynotuning. Probably in July. I have no idea where the numbers will end up but when I do I'll have another contest for it. lol.

i don't understand why you ditched all kinds of mods, only to buy them and install them again...disposable income?

Always looking for a better mod. Never settling for what I had. Now that I know, it is easier and cheaper. lol. And it's not like threw them away. I sold eveything that I no longer wanted, so I'm not out that much money over all.

Well, I'm getting much closer to being done. I was going to install pulley's, but I am happy with the gains I am getting from the Camcon, even without being tuned. So, I just need to get it tuned and i'll be done with that! I was also planning on FatMattting my doors, but the Ebay seller didn't send my FatMat after 3 weeks so I asked for a refund. I may try again later this summer for the FatMat.
