Terrible FM reception

Post by deebiv »

New '07, base radio, absolute terrible FM reception - almost like no antenna. I have removed antenna and it gets slightly worse, but not dramatically. Will speak with dealer but figured I would check here first.

there have been others that have had the same problem. Check the plug on the back of the antenna the do work loose. Also, because our Vibe's have a Power antenna there are fuses to check as well **i think** not sure about it since I haven't had an issue.

Sounds to me like the antenna amplifier is toast.

There is an amplifier on the antenna, and it gets power form the radio, so theoretically, if the radio works at all, it wouldn't be a fuse problem,Since it is a new 07, I would go back to the dealer, make them let you compare reception in another new Vibe, to prove to them (and yourself) that yours is not what it should be, and then make the dealer fix it under warranty.I'd guess yours has a problem, because radio reception in mine is pretty good, so I assume that is normal for Vibes. But I'd compare it to another to be sure yours is not what it should be.
