Here is a pic of 02csnow's bypass valve,It gives you an Idea.Cosmo is good,I have one.Just remember when you install an intake on the vibe,it's a tight fit.

Am i correct in saying that you have to cut the CAI to put the valve in??

Well i was going to post the pic of my CAI with bypass, but Kevin already got to it (thank you Kev). Yes u do have to cut it. they give you a template when you get the bypass. it is very simple.
If you filter that is down in the wheel well ever sucks up water the bypass takes over so u do not bring any water into the manifold and then to the engine. Prettty much it is a saftey filter so u dont get hydrolock.
