Audio wiring colours?

Post by mangophreek »

Hi there. I'm new to posting here but I've been lurking since I got my vibe. 2007 platinum with the power package. I love it but I wanted to install a new head unit with a direct iPod connection. I got the Pioneer DEH-4900IB. I thought I could install it myself, but I was wrong - I can't find any informaiton on the wiring online and my dealership is closed until tomorrow, so I thought maybe you can help me?There's many wires and I can't figure out which ones connect where(I cut off the harness that was connected to the factory head unit).WhiteWhite/BlackPurpleBrownBlueBlue/WhiteTeal3 pinkish wires and one is a little thickerPale yellow2 Green2 BlackGreyAlso the constant power supply isn't working anymore - the remote locks, interior lights etc... don't work. My dad thinks I blew a fuse but I check all of the interior ones and they're fine, do I need to check the engine block ones as well? Can anyone help me out, I really want to be able to figure this out. Thanks.

there is a diagram of the moon&tunes setup at http://forums.genvibe.com/zero...o.gif but that is more useful for the wiring to the amp than to the head unit. The pdf I attached is from an earlier Matrix, but the wiring in it is the same for a Vibe. It's too late now, since you already cut the connector off of the factory radio harness, but for next time, or for anyone else, they sell adapters, a connector that plugs up with the factory harness and provides individual wires, and you can then use that to connect to the adapter pigtail that comes with the new head unit. Using something like that allows you to build an adapter that will plug into the unmodified car wiring and to the new head unit. I hate cutting wires in the car harness, and using one of thise things would allow you to put the original radio back in quickly. There are a lot of threads here at genvibe about wiring up aftermarket radios in these cars, search through the Audio/Electronics forum. Hopefully some will help, although if the cut wire harness has a number of the same size wires with the same colors, you could be in for some tedious trial and error. My guess is that you blew the DOME fuse, which is in the underhood fuse block.
