KEY STUCK

Post by burrpenick »

My KEY was stuck in the ACCESSORY position, would not come out! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------I was frantic, but finally had to disconnect the battery so that I could I TOLOCK the doors- with the KEY on-yes, I had a spare. Tried everything, finally after 2 days of playing with the battery/locking the doors, I decided to try that little button beside the shifter. Not sure what it is called, but it eventally allowed the key to be turned off and removed. HOPEFULLY THIS LITTLE PIECE OF INFO MAY SAVE SOMEONE THE HASSLE OF A DEALER VISIT/TOW.GEORGE IN TALLAHASSEE

Hey Florida Viber, can you turn on your car, will the key move at all?

My key gets stuck as well sometimes.. It's normal, it's the steering wheel lock. Just move the steering wheel ever so slightly as your moving the steering wheel try turning the key... Works every time for me.

Come on guys, I'm an automotive vet, of course the car was in park and no it was not on a hill or binding. I tried rocking the car and many other tricks, INCLUDING LUBING, slight pressure on the A/T stick, rocking the steering wheel...... all to no avail, only unhooking the battery and locking the doors would work. The key would turn on/start the car, but not come past the accessory position. LIKE I SAID, THAT ROUND BUTTON BESIDE THE SHIFTER (RIGHT SIDE ) ON MY 2003 DID THE TRICK.George Penick

Oh yeah what do us youngsters know? Without detail like you just provided above, we were just trying to help. Better take it to the dealer and pay a professional.
