I know this subject is a sore one, but, here goes: Miy check engine light (CEK) came on at 70k, code says the front sensor, but I changed the PLUGS because they were not the original type. Light stayed off for 3k miles and a couple of months! Alas, its back..........Now I'm cheap, and since we DO NOT HAVE EMISSIONS TESTING IN FL, I'll probably use the band aid cure (cover the light) if my MPG is not harmed. But, if I must repair, what do the experts say I should try first- the front sensor or the cat, remember, I'm cheap.George in Tallahassee
Sorry, I am not sure, but it may have been 912 or 512????? Anyway, it was the front sensor, but the guy who read it said sometimes the cat is plugged and causes that, so I just dont want to waste my money on either if the MPG is OK, although I would go for the sensor at $65 if that would do it. Again, I thought the plugs did it, stayed off for about 2 months and 2k miles! Mileage is now 73kpenick@nettally.com
thats wild cause my vibe has almost 80,000 miles and the check engine light comes on quite often lately...so maybe its time for a tune up or O2 sensor eh..
