Hello From New Member

Post by WD0AFQ »

Hey to all. I have been lurking here for a week or so. We have an 03 Abyss GT that we bought new in Sept. 04 for 12,000. I thought it was a bargain and we wanted the stick to pull behind the motorhome. This car is my wife's and she loves it. It sat on the dealer's lot for 2 years. Today I put her xmas present on. Four new "dished" 17 inch wheels, American Wheel, made in China. How's that? It is quite a ride and we have enjoyed it ever since we added it to our stable. I am a 52 year old retired parole officer and my wife, Teri, is much younger, at 49. I will get a photo up when I get it cleaned up and the new Bra on.Dan

Welcome to GenVibe! You got a heck of a deal on your Vibe. WOW! 2 years sitting on the lot. I guess they really wanted to get rid of. How many miles were on it when you bought it? Just wondering how often the employees drove it.

Yea, sat there 2 years, new. I asked the salesman what was wrong with it, listed for 22,000 plus. He said it was the 6 speed. I acted like I did not like it either. Of course that was what I was looking for. Wanted to tow it behind the motor home. Offered him a ridiculous amount and walked off. 2 days later he said come get it. Even got 1 year free oil changes. It has everything but a moon roof. I have opened the air intake. It does 30mpg at 80 or 60 mph. Top speed is 115 in 6th gear. I mite get it faster in 5th. Haven't tried. It is a nice little ride. And, the price was right. It was actually 14 grand then 2 grand off because of my GM credit card earnings.

I think it might have had 25 miles showing. Not many. Old people dont like stick. Kids' parents did not want the kids to have 6 speed, around here.

Thanks for all the welcomes. Been searching the site to find answers to questions that I have. Pretty good place for information. I see that I am going to have to hold the GT in 5th longer to get the top speed accurate. I knew I hit o/d way too soon. Will get the car cleaned up in a few days and see if I can get a photo posted. Of course it is going to look like all the rest of the Black Vibes. Just a different set of American Racing wheels than I have seen on here.

You are lucky, I wanted to GT so bad, but cause of the new Baby and moving to DC I decided against it.... now that the baby is here, and we are back in North Carolina, I kick myself for not getting the GT I wanted. Oh well, someday I will have a faster car, lol. Enjoy the Vibe, and Welcome, we are pleased to have you and your Wife in our little community.

I have not looked the site over good yet. If there is a "for sale" spot I will get some photos of the old GT rims on there. One is curb scraped. Wife did it a week after I bought her the car. I told her if that happens to these new rims I will be upset and the "curb feelers" go on.
