Ready to Vibe-rate

Ok, so I have installed a Sony GTX-500 deck, replaced the weak rear door speakers, and ran all the wires necessary for an amp and sub(s) on my '04 base w/moon & tunes. I have a 500k capacitor to help with the load and 4 gauge power & ground wires.So my question is, what type/size/how many sub(s) should I go with? I would like to stay with Sony as the door speakers and the deck is Sony and I have always had good luck keeping everything the same brand.Does anyone have subs? If so, what size is good for the Vibe & how much power?I appreciate any input and I will keep you posted as to what I go with...Thanks.

I guess that would depend on your age. I'm old (over 40) and I have 1 10" dual Subwoofer powered buy a lightning Audio amp (bridged) at around 400 watts and it shakes the rearview mirror. I also have the stock head unit with moons and tunes 200 watt amp, stock speakers in the front doors and sony xplodes in the rear doors. i could use a new head unit but its fine in the sub dept.

I am 31 and still love bass, but not really deep bass. I like a tight bass sound. I was thinking of taking the two Coustic dvc 2-ohm 10's from my Camaro along w/a Coustic 500w amp. I just didn't want to take up so much room with a double box. But this is a less expensive alternative...

Really depends on the sound you want. My highs are just that, very high, like as in High-Pass only. I have Polk Momo 6.5's in the fronts and JL 6.5's in the rears with a JL 300.4 amp pushing them all in HP. I also have 1 10" JLW7 subwoofer with a Phoenix Gold 500W Tantrum amp and a Boss 1 farad capacitor, and ask anyone that has heard my Vibe, it is loud as hell! But, unlike many other cars you hear, the highs are just as loud if not louder and clearer than the bass. But the bass you can hear from a LONG ways away and it is very loud, even with just 1 10"!

Damronjr, thanks for the input. I like the idea of a single sub. I am going to a Sony outlet store tonight to see what they have. I'll bet your car is crazy loud. Your box is sweet looking too. btw, where did you get the cargo cover? I have been looking all over for one.

hes kinda looking for something affordable. I really don't think that sub is in his price range let alone with that box. Good equipment, least their subs/speakers. I'm not to fond of their amps. My friends on his 3rd 300/2. You can make anything loud, you can go 3 routes. Sealed, Ported, Bandpass. Of the 3 sealed has the best sound quality as a whole because it has pretty much all range of tones. Ported, it will peak out a certain area of lows. Bandpass I'm not familiar with I just know it works somewhat like ported but most people have issues with them.But the box is pretty much what gives it the sound, loudness, and so on.

Thanks for the tips. I ended up getting a great deal on Rockford Fosgate stuff at Best Buy. I got a p325.1 mono amp, two p1 10s and a sealed box for $279! Still have some dialing in to do, but this is louder than the 15 and 2 12s I had in a full sized wagon. Now I just need to keep my rear view mirror from dropping out of sight!
