Post by 1zzfe_808 »

so my friend who has the magnaflow catback exhaust, just ordered a greddy axle back and said i could have the magnaflows axle back part. my question is this would just be like bolting on a borla or TRD exhaust right??? i might get a few horses but not much?

That would be about right. The magnaflow muffler flows a bit better than the stock one. So you might gain a few hp, but not a lot.

If it's free, it's worth doing.

Yep, that'll be better than stock, and sound nicer too. Smells like a JP Midpipe, or custom piping, might be in your future

Anyone recall if the Magnaflow axle back portion will connect right up with the rest of the stock system? If I remember when I installed my Magnaflow cat-back, that connection may have been slightly different. I'm not sure if it will be a simple bolt on like the Borla.

Ooo, hadn't thought of that. You might be right since the Magnaflow is an entire cat-back system, it might not work with the stock pipe.

The Magnaflow axle-back will not bolt up to the stock flange. First of all, the piping and flanges are different sizes. Plus the flange bolt pattern on the Magnaflow is a reverse of what the stock exhaust has. Take it to a shop and have them cut it up and weld it on.

For free, its worth the $50 to have a shop cut it and weld it in place. Might as well throw down a little extra and have them build you a midpipe as well while its on the lift.
