Hey all what's up. I've had my Vibe for 3 weeks now and LOVE IT. Watched Fast and the Furious, and Too Fast Too Furious for like the third time. Can't wait to tune my car. First will be air filter, and plugs. Then rims. Want to add neon inside and out. Sound good?
Welcome! Modding is addicting for sure! You will find lots of people here that have done certain mods and prices for what they paid before you buy yours.
I also used to have a 02 PT Cruiser but traded it for the vibe. I didn't really like it. Question:Would adding a CAI increase or decrease gas MPG? I'm depating wether to install a CAI or just a K&N filter. I want to increase if not keep my MPG the same. I don't want to loose any.
A CAI would definitely increase your gas mileage. How much depends on your driving habbits. Even if you decide to go with a K&N air filter, you should see about 1-2 mpg increase.I'm debating on going with a CAI or short ram myself.BTW, welcome to genvibe.
In theory the mileage should go up.. But most people like the sound it makes soooo much they tend to drive a little harder thus decreasing the mileage.. Just have to stay out of it... And welcome to GenVibe! Pics are always loved
I installed a drop in K&N filter on my Vibe or my wifes Vibe... I did not tell her I did and she said did you do something to the Vibe? She noticed it was more responsive but that her MPG increased a bit too...As for the PT, I really like the car. The Turbo engine is great, just what it needed since the base engine is a dog. Since the rear seats come out entirely, it hauls lots! I brought home my full sized arcade pinball machine with it! Closed the back door and drove away! Fuel mileage is not the best but not the worst. Mine is a lease, due in Sept and I am not sure what I will get next but it has to be a Chrysler/Dodge or Jeep since it is a company car.
Welcome to genvibe!! yea modding kicks (removed)! you should see fast and the furious 3 that is actually a great movie! I have a TRD CAI for my base vibe 2004 and love it. I say get a injen or TRD. I got mine used off someone at matrixowners.com . It makes your engine sound louder in a good way and increases mileage if you keep those rpms under 3k all the time.toolguy - get a srt4 caliber!!!
Female tuner??? woah i didnt know they still existed, besides Hope!!!Welcome and enjoy all the info and people here. I have a Cold air by Cosmoracing. it sound great and does pep up the engine... if you rev high or punch it you will lose MPG's... i know!!! But it does help on long trips and conservative driving. and neons are always cool.
Must resist.... V... Tec.... Temptation... to strong... "WARNING: Genvibe is a very addictive website... constant use can result in car modification and a lowering of your bank account. use with extreme caution!http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2298639
Welcome to Genvibe! The stock/oem Denso Iridium plugs are the best availalble for the Vibe. They are good for 100,000 miles. You shouldn't have to change themunless they have gone bad for some reason. What year and model Vibe to you have? It will determine what intakes are available to you.Congrats on getting the Vibe!
My Fleet:
'15 Ford Fusion AWD Titanium 2.0 Tutbo
'14 Lincoln MXZ AWD 2.0 Turbo
'14 Nissan Pathfinder AWD SL
'05 Pontiac Vibe AWD
Welcome to GenVibe!Yep... a CAI would be great, but I think the only one available for the '05-'06 Vibe is the Cosmo. In any case, after a couple of tanks of revving your car up to 6K just to hear the growl, you'll definitely see a MPG improvement (mine's about 2 mpg better)
welcome to the site we love pics here but yes CAI's do help with the MPG and also give the car theadd ummph and prep. i have the Injen CAI and i have had just about the same or higher MPG "without florring it just to hear the intake roar hehehehe " and i too have a blue vibe great choice

I don't want to loose any.A guy I worked with had a PT, and it was unmercifully made fun at every opportunity by most everyone else. It was known as "The Clown Car." I have not had a CAI, but it seems to me you get more bang for the buck with just a K&N filter. The CAI is about 4x the filter cost, but not 4x the gain.

Sorry I have a 2006 Pontiac Vibe Base Monotone Neptune Blue. Yep love tuning my own car (to a point). My biological father (don't see and don't want too) was a "grease monkey". My step-dad (awesome guy) owns a salvage yard and towing business. I drove tow truck for him even before I had a license. Loved to walk through the yard to see what I could find. I will add some pics soon of my car. Right now its raining and cloudy.I bought some from seat covers from Advanced Auto. Bought some material to make some for the rear plus material for a blanket since my boys ride with me. My boys meaning my 10 year old Golden Retriever named Sampson. And my little shotgun Teddy a mini rat terrier. I'm waiting for a car seat to arrive today for Teddy. He thinks the car is his and he loves to help his momma tune cars. Well....at least supervise. I don't have any human children of my own and my dogs are my sons. Spoiled rotten and love cars.
Welcome to the board, and CONGRATS on the Vibe...Neptune...good choice! LOL;) I can't wait for mine to get here so I can do mods too! You sew too? Cool. I'm planning to make covers for the back too. But the sewing machine repair guy has my better machine in his shop right now!

Welcome to our little club!As you can see, lot's of nice people here, and of course, lot's of modding done too! I'm running with a K&N short ram intake, and my hood has functional scoops that puts outside colder air right on top of the filter. I'm also running with a cat-back Magnaflow exhaust, and not only love the sound they make together, but got over a 20-hp increase to the wheels!I've lowered with Hotchkis springs, and am using their front and rear anti-sway bars, along with their front strut tower brace, and it went from a 66-mph 600-ft slalom run stock to a 71-mph 600-ft slalom with the 19" tire/wheel package (which weighed 4-lbs less than the stock 17"'s). That's a BIG increase!Plus, I've done a few body mods as well, trying to keep it "clean" looking, but still turns heads!Good luck with modding your Vibe to your own tastes, and as always, we want to see pics!

To be honest...No and Yes!When I'm able to drive like a normal person, it actually gave me almost a 3-mpg increase in city driving (went from about 26-mpg to 29-mpg).But, the additional growl from under the hood and the deeper tone of the exhaust note has been like an addictive drug, and it is very hard NOT to make them sing through the gears and valve lift, even just driving through town. Having it handle like a slot car doesn't help the addiction either! So, basically, I get a little less than normal gas mileage, around 25-mpg in the city, but it's all my fault!
