Center caps

Post by limE »

Hi All I was wondering if anyone would know if there are any other center caps that would fit the 17" GT rims besides the black pontiac ones. I am putting them on my matrix. ( i know sorry) i'm looking for just something else. ( pontiac logo or not I just don't like the black) Any help or advice would be great. Thank you. This is a cool site thanks for letting me be a part of it.

I bet you could easily scuff up the Vibe centercaps with some 400 grit sandpaper and spray them with a silver paint that matches the wheel and that would blend the caps in with the wheel.I bought some Celica GTS aluminum wheels to use on my Vibe with the snow tires and I have looked for some option to eliminate the Toyota emblem on my wheels. It seems that all the center caps are just a little different and don't mix and match very well. I have not tried the Vibe aluminum wheel cap with the Matrix wheel cap however...and since they are both in production by Toyota or it's suppliers maybe they will be similar sized. The Pontiac dealer is near my home and I can stop by on the way to work early in the morning and investigate these things....the Toyota dealer is clear across town and I don't get by there often to see what they have.Dave

i'm gonna try scuffing them and see what happens. I tried to put the caps from my 16" toyota rims on but they are a tad too big. toyota is 2 1/2 vibe is 2and 5/16. what size are the celica gt caps?

The Celica GTS caps are just about exactly 2-1/8" - but are really probably something metric.Scuff up the caps very lightly....just enough to remove the shine and make the caps non-glossy so the paint has something to stick to. Wipe them down with mineral spirits or wax and grease remover...or use a good dishwashing soap to remove any oil or wax before you spray them. If you can get an enamel paint it might be less apt to react with the plastic than a lacquer based paint.Good LuckDave
