Just wondering if anyone has put a nav system in their vibe. I have a base no MT package, and was wondering how hard it would be. Is it possible to install it without the antenna? Also, does the nav. head unit fit in the hole for my radio, and does it play regular dvd's? Peace
Are you talking about the factory navigation unit? It's not hard, but good luck finding all the parts you need to get it working right.- The NAV unit- The GPS antenna- The CD Changer- the Map diskIt's not going to do you any good without the GPS antenna. It will fit in the spot for the Base radio, and it does not play videos of any kind. You'd be better off finding an AVIC-N1/2/3 or AVIC-D1 on ebay somewhere.

You don't need the changer if you're okay with just listening to AM/FM while using the navigation / map functions. There's only one DVD drive in the nav unit itself, and it requires the disc being in to use the navigation or see the map.The GPS antenna is essential to it working, though.

Also (from personal experience) the Factory nav system S U C K SLet me be prefectly clear... You would be better off with ANY aftermarket navigation. I have had my Vibe GT with nav for over 2 years now and i can say that the Delphi nav head unit is sub par. First, the discs are rediculously expensive to purchase in the event you want maps newer than 2000 or (heaven forbid) you scratch it. Second, the pioneer 6 disc changer they install with it is not of the same quality you find on other pioneer equipment. I have had to replace it twice and my third is dying. Third, the inking on the buttons is beginning to wear off, so i get random, blinding beams of red light that shine in my face at night.... blah blah blah...I am replacing that shisty factory nav in my otherwise amazing car with a Pioneer AVIC D2 as soon as possible.

Yeah, i'll second that the Factory NAV is not worthwhile just in function, form, and features.I didn't have the same problems with my changer though. But then, I had the X3 aux input box and mostly used my XM.

Well..I've had my nav unit in my GT since july`03, and have never had a problem with it, other than it not knowing some street addresses I input. I've never had a problem with the cd-changer either, and play that sucker all the time! In fact, the only thing I don't like is that it goes from "day" to "night" screen whenever the auto-light receptor on the dash gets in the shade!

No way I was driving through the tree-lined streets of NJ with that flashing going on.There's nothing WRONG with the Nav. The Nav for navigation itself worked great. And as said, I never experienced any changer problems myself. BUT..were I to do it again..I would've skipped the factory nav for aftermarket (Sadly the AVIC series came out the year after I got the car)

If you want to see what the Pioneer setup looks like in the vibe go look at my car domain page I did the install myself, but then again I have been doing this for 8 years now so if you are new a doing car audio you might have problems if your not too far where I live I could help you out. Also they said that the Avic N-2 could not be bypassed to watch movies while driving................ well I bypassed that. If anyone has the N-2 or D-1 I can tell you how to bypass the system.http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2290660
