Headunit replacement consideration for 2003 base vibe w/ M&T

Post by BoostFrenzy »

Have no quarrels with the factory headunit, but GF would like mp3 capability and since all my cars have it, I get sick of burning discs in cd-audio format for herI understand the OEM system utilizies a factory amp and i'd need to use a line leveler w/ the headunit and the mounting tray.... but what is the end result? Does it sound better or are you left wishing you never changed out the head unit without changing all the speakers as well? Not interested in anythign more than changing the HU so if it's not a positive solution, she's stuck on CDA share your experiences, parts used, part numbers etc etc

I installed a kenwood excelon unit in my 05 base with M&T and used the line level converter made by sorsche and it sounds better than stock to me. I also added a audiobahn amp and sub not too long ago that makes it thump hard. no blown speakers or anything and it has been running like that since i bought it.
