door ajar light

a small, but annoying, problem occured today. when i was drivin around the door ajar light came on and now it will not shut off, i have checked all doors, hood, rear hatch, even the gas cover and the little sucker will still not turn off. Any Suggestions?yogi

Do your interior lights stay on also, or is it just the door ajar light that stays on? There may be a relay somewhere in this lighting circuit that the dealer needs to check out.The 4 door switches are easy to check. You can check that the spring loaded pin switch plunger under the black rubber boot in each door jamb is moving freely in and out.. Haven't spotted where the switches for the rear door or hatch glass are yet..

Any Suggestions?You said rear hatch, but did you also check the glass hatch?I know you can pop open the hatch, but it still looks closed yet will cause the door ajar light to illuminate.

okay i went out to my car this morning and a funny thing was, or should i say wasnt there, the door ajar light was not on. and it was working properly all day. dont you love it when cars fix themselves. yogi[Modified by lordyogi, 3:35 PM 7/25/2002]
