Im always looking for another car and was looking through a auction for write offs and there is a 04 vibe stand., salvageable. I looked through the last few auctions and have not seen another vibe or matrix but have seen the avg. for top dollar was $3000, for other cars like audis and bmws.So do you think it would worth maybe buy a arecked but salvageable vibe and fix her up the way I want her to be?
sometimes madness is confused with passion.......but is there any other way to live?
Nobody wants to buy a salvage title, and most states won't let you convert it to a normal title. If it's a scrap title, you can't even legally drive it on the road or get it registered. Insurance also might have a problem with either of the above. I'd do a salvage or a scrap title only if I wanted parts from the vehicle.
buying salvage is prefectly ok if you want to save a ton on a car and are able to fix it. scrap cars can't be put back on the road in this country after being titled so. a legally licensed junk yard can't sell a car and not disclose this. But those cars usually go out of the country and sold there. ALOT of used cars sold in this country are salvage cars. i dn't think it's ok to buy salvage to turn them into regular titl;es. that might be skeeming people. if it's for personal use.. then it's great. if you want to make money, that's great too, as long as you expose the car as having a rebuild or salvage titles. insurance companies do insure them they would need to do a inspection on the vihicle prior to. most states will require a inspections prior to registering them anyways.. before buying though. do a research on the vihicle's history though. car fax has good detailed history on why a car was salvaged. a collision vihicle can be put back on the road just fine. flooded is where you have to be carefull. i wouldn't buy salt water damage. did you know that a car gets a flooded title if there is more than 1k of water damage to it?? now adays a car really doesn't even have to be really flooded to have that kind of damage.damm. i've went on haven't i?on another note. some states do allow you to turn those titles upon fixing and inspection to turn them into clean titles. nothing illegal about doing so.like i said. carfax, a 24$ charge can go a long way.

I know it wasn't an issue at all in Kentucky where I grew up, my sister had a car with a salvaged title, no probs getting insurance either. But yes, nobody wants one when it is time to sell it.As for the salvaged Vibe, if it were me personally, I would have to pass... Unless you have a source of plenty o' cheap parts, then it may be doable. From what I've seen thus far, it's just going to cost way too much for parts. Maybe you're lucky to have a junk yard with a few of these cars laying around, but in my neck of the woods, there are no Vibes on the street, which means there are no Vibes for people to wreck, so no parts readily available. Dealer or internet is the only choice. Now, a salvaged vehicle that is more popular where parts are cheaper and readily available, hell yeah. That would be a fun project.

first off... if the car is salvaged in cali, you can not get full coverage on a car... also value is crap... yeah you might drive a bmw, but is salvage... i see this happening in the armenian and middle eastern communities... I for one will not drive one.. they are not the same car no matter how you fix it.. is like putting back a coke can... not the same no matter what..
a salvage title can simply mean that the damage worth was more than the insurance thought the car to be worth.or in some states, you can choose weather or not to keep your car if there is frame damage. if you choose not to keep it, then it becomes salvage.ofcourse a salvage car is SALVAGE. BUT SO WHaT. IF YOU KNOW WHAT IT IS AND PAID WHAT IT'S WORTH... As in any car. you are going to loose money on it. obviously. if you pay 3k for a salvg 05. paid 2k for repairs. use it for 2 years.you will likely sell it for around 4k.if you buy a new 05 @ 18k. use it for 2 years. you will likly get 10k for it. see what i mean??it's not a bad if you eliminate the middle man. salvage means... it can be saved.

I have done this a few times, buying a salvaged car.As for full coverage in Michigan I have no clue, but basic liablity can be. (I've never notice a price difference)I have learned that I will only do them with frontend damaged, rear damage is to hard to fix without serious cutting and welding. They can make for cheap dependable transportation, the problem is trying to sell them.So if you do one plan on driving it, or selling it fairly cheap. If it's a bad hit and you suppect frame or unibody damage, frame shops will usally bend them back for a small fee.I've been looking at some here, but I want new 4x4 for Plowing and the right one hasn't jump out at me yet.Good luck.
