Relay, fuses, computer board whats wrong with it

Post by 03vibeowner »

Hi im new to the forum but im having simular problems I recently wanted to hook up a new Radio but havent been able to yet but in order to connect a new radio you have to run a power wire and a "Expert tech." hooked the wire to the acc line which I think sometime blew a relay or something, no fuses blown it seems, but the radio (factory), windows(power), A/C, Windshield wipers, no gauge lights, like everything still works on the outside of the car lights and what not well anyone have any ideas thanks alot I could really use the help

Your "expert tech" is wrong. You DO NOT have to run separate power for the radio. It is already in the harness. This is NOT your typical GM electrical system.Step 1: Undo whatever BS wiring your so-called "expert" did.Step 2: Check AM2 and GAUGE fuses under the dash. Step 3: Replace burnt out fuse (there is one, I guarantee it) and reinstall radio properly.

There are two fuse blocks in these cars, the one under the hood is very convenient to get to, The second one is up under the dash on the drivers side, more or less behind the storage area that is between the steering wheel and the driver door.Could be the AM1 or the AM2 fuse, but check them allThe way most people install an aftermarket radio in these cars is to get a GM harness adapter. These things have a connector that plugs in tothe car's radio harness, just like the stock radio did, and ends in loose wires. The aftermarket radio comes with it's own cable ending in loose wires, all you have to do is match up the variosu signals from one harness to another. You really shouldn't need to cut any existing wires or run any new ones.

ragingfish is right. this is not typical GM crap. Your "EXPERT" needs to read up on a few things before calling himself that. Any idiot can tell it isnt normal GM stuff just by looking at a schematic which an "EXPERT" would have done. just follow ragings directions and you will be fine.
