GM12-AUXv2 hiss at lower volume

Post by Kenn »

I just installed a GM12-AUXv2 adapter into my 2005 Vibe with Moon and Tunes/ single cd. The aux switch works fine and music sounds great at a medium to loud volume. However, when on CD or MP3 there is a slight hiss when the volume is low. There is no hiss on the radio setting and the hiss was not present on the cd before the install. Does anyone have any ideas about what is going on and how to fix it?

I don't se anything in that thread about hiss. Some poeple have had hiss with the M&T, but you say you have none except when using the adapterdoes the aux adapter thing have any kind of gain or volume control built in to it? Can you adjust the various volumes of all the devices to get the hiss to seem less (turn up the external audio source and turn down the radio, or vice versa) Does it have any effect on the amount of hiss?

The noise problems that I'm aware of with AUX adapters in the Vibe have been related to where power for the adapter was tapped, and have all been extra noise on the AUX channel. this is the first I've heard of it interfering with the head unit CD audio.I'm assuming your reference to "MP3" means the AUX audio? The other AUX hisses with adapters have often been solved by making sure the AUX adapter gets power from the Battery near the head unit, and not from the Ignition 12v. You can get battery 12V from the blue/yellow (blue/white in some cases) wire on the corner of the 24-pin radio connector.Does the GM12-AUXv2 have a pass-through for the factory 12-pin harness?

I got the same device and issue - although, the hiss I get is very quiet - but noticable if I got the engine off and radio very low.I taped my H/U's constant 12v wire for the power source - yellow wire IIRC.

You need a ground loop isolator to get rid of that noise:http://www.radioshack.com/prod...0-054

I just installed the same aux adaptor and get very minor hiss with the aux. input source. I connected the constant 12v and ground at the radio's main connector. It's not an issue for me. Can't hear it while driving down the road.
