I would like to take this opportunity to thank Joatmon. He emailed me soon after the Hurricane Katrina, offering help and assistance. You know, when I signed up for GenVibe, I never expected it's members would be so open, so personal...and, in this case selfless. He wanted to know about me and my family...and what he could do. My family and I are quite grateful for this act of kindness. And help he did, finding information for me concerning my GMAC account when I was unable to dial long distance from my house and getting no responses for my emails. So, GenVibe community... every one get in line and pat Joatmon on the back. Give him a thumbs up. And those who are near him, go wash and wax his Vibe...Once again, thank you...hjwiiHarold Werling

I have signatures turned off so I'm not even sure what mine says in this space!
I have noticed Joatman to be the most politest , informative , friendly , helpful individual since (he or she) joined . It is people like that , that make me hang around . Now -I think (with me being from New Orleans) I need to look in my mirror and ask myself --Why Didn't I think of that?" James Stewart (Vibe)
Way to go Joat! And Harold, I hope you and your family are well, and starting to be able to pick up the pieces. I've only been to NO once, a few years ago, and during a tropical storm, actually--but it was one of the most fun trips I've taken, and have wanted to go back ever since. Ever since the hurricane hit, I've been watching CNN, almost obsessively, just to see what's going on, and if help has come, etc. I have been praying for everyone down there, and I truly hope that you and your family are beginning to find some sense of 'normalcy' in the midst of everything that is so NOT normal. I think I can speak for all of us here when I say our thoughts and prayers are with you.
It is a relief to see your name pop back up on my screen. I hope you and your family are doing well! Let us know if there is anything at all you need - it should be pretty obvious by now that we may be able to help. Joatmon, that's a good thing you did. *pat on the back!* But no thanks, I'm not gonna grab yer (removed).

Harold, thanks for the thanks, but most of us can't imagine the kind of damage you see down that way. We see it on TV, but it can't be the same as being there. Good luck in the recovery, hope they can let people back into the city soon, and the job starts up. At least in the meantime you don't have to deal with the long commute. But it is great that you and your family, including that new little bundle of joy are all ok. It's like we say when someone wrecks their Vibe. Material things are transient and unimportant compared to the health and well being of those close to you.Now get busy posting pics of the damage in your area, and if biblical wrath of God is ever unleashed on southern Maryland, you can check up on me all credit goes to tnpartsguy. He was reaching out to genvibers, I stole his idea. He has been able to contact barbell, chargedvibe and Greg100575 so far, and they are all ok.Still, there are a number of genvibers in the area that we haven't heard from. Some who've never posted, some haven't posted in a while or much. The only other person I have tried to reach so far was mexigirl, who is in Biloxi, and God did woefully smite Biloxi, but I haven't heard anything from her yet. I wonder if any of the other NOLA folks have email addresses listed.Quote, originally posted by Vibe » ... the most politest , informative , friendly , helpful individual ... don't forget humble. I am proud of my impressive humility -----------Joatmon and the hurricane. Sounds like the title of a children's book.

I just did want I would want people to do for me if a disaster struck my area, be concerned enough to at least attempt to contact me in some way. And to be honest, I didn't try to contact anyone directly in NOLA, because I didn't think they would be able to contact us for days or weeks. I mostly hit the outer ring of the storm path, the areas of MS, AL, GA, and FL that didn't get hit as hard, but still got hit. I too am still very worried about Mexigirl, the area she lives near was very hard hit, and no replys from any contact yet.
