yeah, i wish I would have fought(with the wife) for the gt a little more. I raced one the other afternoon(black two tone) and I have to say those extra ponys would be nice. I kept up for a short while and then he'd pull away. damn i need more ponys!!!not that i race often just thought it would be fun..

lol. well, stock for stock, the base will probably keep up til the GT hits lift. then you'll be staring at the taillights. if the GT has any kind of mods, then forget it!

Which is exactly why I'm glad I didn't get a GT. I don't need massive amounts of power, but I would prefer more usable power spread over a variety of engine speeds. Having to wind something up to a billion RPM's just to get something extra out of it, and only getting something extra for a brief moment does nothing for me. I don't need no steenkin' lift! But gimme enough torque to pull a tree stump out of the ground at 1,000 RPM and now you're talkin.

My dealer didn't have an GT's in stock, but I did contemplate ordering one. In the end, the gas mileage/regular fuel won out. I read the consumer reviews, and many of them said the base engine is great for everyday driving. If I had the extra horses, not only would I be spending more on premium fuel, I'd be tempted to use those horses a lot more. I didn't really get the Vibe for racing anyway, though I will eventually be doing some HP mods in the future. That's why I have the 240sx.

A GT is almost a car length faster to 30 mph before lift and then runs away. It's actually has 15-20% more power available down low due to the gearing. For it, you lose about 5 mpg and $2500. Pick which is more important to you. They don't compare well in either performance or economy. I averaged 26 mpg in my GT. I'm getting 24 in my Mazda 6 cyl auto. with 87 oct so gas costs are about the same. When the GT was in lift, it pulled harder than my 6 or my wifes V6 Accord. It was the most fun ride I've owned. Not the fastest etc. but it was just a blast after the suspension got done. TRDvibe, how's the Legacy pull when on boost?
Vibe GT, TRD springs, Progress bar, STB, Unichip, Borbet E 16x7.5, 225/50 Bridgestone RE750, beefed up grounds and battery bypass capacitors(had em laying around)

I think instead of modding for more power you should find ways to depower that thing and increase the mileage, for those number, eek.. Those numbers, they just, um, suck! I'm with joatmon, glad I don't have one. I'll kick power to the curb anyday for a couple extra miles per gallon. Nowadays, if the window sticker doesn't say at least 30 on the highway, that car shall not be considered.

I sometimes wish I got the GT as well. I didn't even get a manual because my wife hates them, so I am slow. Looking at the mpg though, and I'm glad I have a base vibe grocery-getter. I would be Mr. lead-foot if I had a GT.Now all I need is a Trubo-Diesel VW Golf and I'll be in heaven.
