Pressure washer OUCH!

Post by McVibe »

So I decided to take my Vibe and get it pressure washed because I had just gone on a dirt road the day before. So I'm up at A&K Car Audio/car wash (where I get most of my aftermarket stuff) and I saw what appeared to be a bug on my side molding. So i turned up the pressure washer and blasted away. Little did I know a rock must have flown up on the interstate and chipped some of my paint into a bud. So when I washed it, it ripped off a huge chunk of paint. I'm going to my dealer and getting touch up paint today. Has this happened to anyone esle?

Not on my Vibe, but my Chysler did that just after I bought it. The dealer took it back to wash it and I had noticed there were some scratches on the back bumper (former rental car). When it came back there was a significant amount of paint missing around the scratches and the guy told me what had happened. They offered to fix it but later backed out on the offer.

Hasn't happened to my Vibe either, but I've done it to other vehicles also. It seems that the paint is more likely to be blasted off of plastic or fiberglass body/trim panels than metal ones. Hope all works out with your touch up repairs.
