I picked up my new 05 a couple of weeks ago and noticed what I think is a faint wind noise around 40 and up. I visually checked all the door and window seals and don't see anything wrong. I also messed with the a/c, recirc. heat, etc without any change. I don't think it's the roof rack because everyone has them and I couldn't find any other complaints. I don't have cross bars. Hub caps maybe?? Anyone have any ideas?
These cars are just very noisy in general, I think. The road noise in mine on the interstate is very annoying when I'm on the phone and makes it difficult to hear. I get really bad noise that makes it sound like a window is open when it rains, but I'm not sure what exactly causes it. You might want to check also to make sure the plugs are in the frame underneath from the holes that are used for the transport tie-downs.
Thanks for the tip on the rubber plugs. I found them last week in a plastic bag in the glove box and put them in. I thought for sure it was going to cure my noise, but it's still there. I understand that the Vibe is just a noisey car in general but this seems to be one particular noise.
I also have a '05. I hear a soft "whine" that starts around 52mph but either stops or is hidden by road noice around 65mph. If I let off the gas, it goes away. Does your noise stop if you let up on the gas?Other than that, I am pleased with the lower wind noise than my '95 Chevy Blazer. Tom
No one LOVES their Vibe as much as I do!!! 2005 Platinum Basic w/auto trans.Did you know that the Vibe has 1 inch MORE rear legroom than the Mercury Marquee and theChevy Trailblazer? !! HONEST!!
I checked today and don't hear any whine above 50 mph that is gas related. Mine just sounds like some kind if air turbulance that starts around 40mph. If I let off the gas it's still there. I think I will remove the hub caps and the roof rack (if I can figure out how) for a test.
