is that ever happened to you, waiting for a package send by a shop through UPS, and have no clue on where is your stuff? here what I have when I check the details with the tracking number:19 Apr 2005 4:26 LOS ANGELES, CA, US DEPARTURE SCAN and nothing after that. that means since tuesday, my package is nowhere. I sent an email to UPS, and they told me:"Dear Martin-Claude Leblanc:Thank you for your inquiry. Our records indicate your package is intransit and scheduled for delivery on Tuesday, April 26th, by the end of the business day.For your reference, packages that are shipped through UPS will receive a minimum of three scans, ORIGIN or LOCATION, OUT FOR DELIVERY, and DELIVERY. Scanning information indicates that your package has traveled through a particular location on its way to the final destination. The package may also receive scans each time it arrives and is sortedthrough an intermediate location, indicating that it is currently onit's way to the final delivery destination. With the exception of theDELIVERY scan, each scan indicates that the package is in transit. Thelast scan on a package in transit is not necessarily an indication ofits current location. If your package has not received a scan for more than 24 hours, it istraveling to the next sorting point and will not be scanned again untilit reaches that point. Scan information is uploaded daily and deliveryinformation will be available within 90 minutes of delivery. "When I ordered my Cat-Back, I was able to follow my package each day, with all the transit it made... D oyou think it's normal, no scan since 5 days?
It's very possible.I often get packages that never say anything other than "Scanned at origin." The day I get it, it finally updates to show the route along the way, and it's delivery.Nothing abnormal, just the natural speed of technology.

If it's shipped UPS Ground/Freight, then yes, a lot of times you'll only see the departure scan, because the rest of the time it's on a truck somewhere. And if it stays on that truck, it won't get scanned again. I'll usually see nothing on the tracking for four days when something's shipped from CA to GA. Just go by the estimated date of arrival.

When I had my Cat-back sent to me from ptuning the barcode on the label had somehow gotten destroyed and they could not scan it. It took about 7 days for it to make it here the old fashioned way of looking at the address and keep it headed west.
this used to happen to me weekly. i worked for a company doing server installations for clients all over the country. the parts i ordered via UPS were constantly getting lost, being delivered to the wrong location (we billed from a separate office than we shipped to), or coming in too late. i had more trouble with UPS than with the three other shipping companies i dealt with combined (fedex, airborne express, and dhl).also, keep in mind, ups ground doesn't have any sort of guaranteed delivery window. ups just guarantees it will be there "eventually". best of luck.
DHL can still suck, took them 7 business days to do a two day delivery of a small box containing some things for me from Hope. Oh and yeah they tried to bill us for 2 day shipping.I once ordered 4 rims from Wheel Covers near Windsor as part of a GM warranty replacement of a fellow's corroded ones. I ordered 4 and box 2 of 2 showed up but no box 1 of 2. For THREE weeks I waited for the box 1 and made calls with my tracking numbers and was told "Its in Transit."Week 4 I called Wheel covers, ordered another box of just two rims this time and they arrived two days later. Eventually the shipping company (And I am trying very hard to remember the name but it wasn't UPS, it was some other popular courier service in canada) said they could not find box 1 and gave up looking for it. Of course I called Wheel covers to inform them of why they only got 4 rims back (the used ones) instead of 6 as I was going to return the box if it showed up and had them get after the company for the missing box. Last I heard about it was a battle between the two and Wheel Covers getting paid for the full amount those rims were being billed to me as PLUS eating the shipping costs.

lol. only you rob! but yes, my company uses DHL so that's why it was easier to use them. plus they are much cheaper than UPS or FedEx. but the issues i had with them have increased, both with them losing a package that was to be sent and delivered 2 days (i paid more money) to business issues of them losing packages. it's great to see a company do well, but unfortunately as most businesses know, there are growing pains that come along with quick success. after much haggling over the bill, they said they would not charge me but then did. they then said they would refund me and didn't. i waited almost 2 months and no refund, so i had to dispute the charge through the bank.
If the item was shipped by UPS Ground, it will be on a truck driving from LA all the way across the USA and all the way north to a hub somewhere close to the Quebec border, probably Syracuse, NY. This will take about 5-6 days because the truck driver can only do so many hours a day by law. It will most likely arrive and be scanned and sent on to Quebec early , like 5:00am Monday morming. You will receive it on Tuesday. If it is a valuable item expect a staggering brokerage(extortion) fee to be tacked on, sometimes as much as 50% of the value. I pick up any UPS shipped items across the border in Ogdensburg NY to save the ransom costs. The brokerage fee is my only gripe with UPS. If sent by mail, Canada Post only charges $5.00 plus applicable taxes. UPS can charge $50.00 and more plus taxes.
I hope I won't have that kind of problem. I just ordered my SprinTech on eBay, so I hope it will be find with that one too. For those living in Canada, do you think they are ripping me of with a 45$ of S&H for a 90$ package? I think yes, but I can't do nothing... I have no relative close to the border in Maine to receive for me, and the difference will be in gaz anyway...

DHL horror story...... Some kid delivering a package here in town throws another box off the back of his truck because it was in the way of another he wanted to get.Turns out that package was a server component worth $45,000 and now completely worthless.Hopefully DHL doesnt treat all thier boxes like that. The stories I get to hear from my clients at work.......lol.....I'm in the same business btw....freight courier.Day and Ross are another peach of a company...I have never seen a more disorganized mess as I have than thier warehouse. Here's an example of how they pack things too........truck parts for White Trucks....a cardboard box stapled to a pallet--inside --16 heavy duty shock absorbers plus other assorted parts.....needless to say that box didnt last long on the trip from Eastern canada out here. Also they run SameDAY/RightWay out of the same warehouse......when they cant keep thier employee roster filled(lots of turnover--wonder why?...lol) they send thier crap to us to deliver for tham....how'd you like to receive your big screen TV with forklift holes in it?.......just shake my head at some of the stuff they give us to deliver for them.
I've been selling on Ebay for about 4 years now. Mostly antique and collectible glass. I'd have to say that USPS is the hardest on boxes and for loss, Ups is a close second, and DHL is totally screwed up.
I used UPS for 6 years at my company and over look several damaged items by them. Then I filed a claim, when they bent a 1 inch dia. Cold rolled shaft. They blamed it on poor packaging. The Box I had it in was made of oak then placed in a card board box, per there rules.I inform them that I couldn't package it any better unless I added a automatic parchuteor Air Bag's.After 6 months they paid me for my loss.By that time I had already switched over to FedEx, And I have never had one problem with them.FedEx rules!
