I kinda screwed up here... A couple of weeks ago when I was stuck in the snow, the front splash guards were being a pain. I got sick of having to dig out the big mounds of snow and ice that was getting stuck between the tire and the splash guards. So, I took 'em off real quick like...Now, wanting to put them back on, I'm screwed... I ended up losing a couple of the 10mm bolts that attach them to the inner fender. I tried the local Pontiac dealer close to home - brought in the bolt and asked them if they any. Of course, they were pretty much useless, as I had expected. All he said he saw on their stuff at the dealer were plastic retainers, not the bolts. I'm having a brain fart here - does the inner fender not have screws when it leaves the factory, but has retainers instead? For the life of me, I can't seem to remember!Went to AutoZone and found some screws and bolts that I thought would fit, but it turns out they didn't. So I figured I'd just steal the bolts from somewhere else and put them back on. Sadly, I seem to have forgotten about the little rubber bushing piece that goes under the splash guard, between the guard and the body. I still have the retainer, but not the round thingie.Any ideas where I can go to find those two stupid bolts and the bushings that I'm missing? Does all that come with the splash guards when you order them? If they do, I'll just order a new set to save me all that frustration of trying to track this crap down...

The splash guard kit has the mounting hardware included. I'm not sure of the sizes but I know 10 mm bolts have two thread widths (pitch): 1.25 (fine) and 1.5 (course). (I learned this when remounting the driver's seat) You "should" be able to match up something from your local harware shop but make sure it's stainless steel. It's too late for me tonight to check but post if you need me to pull my existing and figure out the size. I added two extra screws into the front mud flaps to provide an extra strong hold because the plastic retainer and the bolts are not enough. I drilled pilot holes into the finder well and screwed in two stainless steel licence plate screws (set of four at Wal-Mart: $1.50) . Much better!
Cool! Thanks for the info! I believe I'll keep looking around for the stuff I need. The license plate screw idea popped into my head last night when I was looking at AutoZone... I may try that!

Quote, originally posted by redlava »One of my bolts fell out sometime recently, and wasn't sure what to use.Yep, been there... I went out to the car the other day and noticed that one splash guard was held in by one bolt. And that one had backed itself out 3/4 of the way.. *sigh* lost another one of those dang bolts... The bolt holes are all stripped out on the passenger's side, so the original size bolt wouldn't work. I ended up finding a couple slighty larger ones down at the folks' house, so I used those... Slightly tighter. lol! We'll see how long they stay on now.
