Anyone experience this? Only did it for me once and not for a very long time. But I was out the other day, started my Vibe, didn't have time to wait a minute for it to warm up and drove off. Now the Vibe had not moved in a few days and I knew I was down to about a quarter tank or less left in it. Its been cold to.I got about 2 blocks away and stopped at a street light and noticed my Vibe was revving up and down from between 1500RPM to about 2000RPM, didn't seem like it was going to stall, just revving you know? Had full power when I took off and by the next block it was fine... almost acted like it was out of fuel or not getting enough fuel since the engine was still cold and trying to idle at the 2000RPMs it does.10 minutes later when I got to the gas station, was still running fine and has ever since. You all experience this or something like it? I'm trusting my fuel gauge but still curious.

It might've just been annoyed at not having a warmup time.. Mine had a high idle from not warming up more than a minute earlier today. The ECU probably just wanted it to warm up faster..

Mine does that. Sometimes I start driving before it gets to that point, Sometimes, if I need to start the car and then scrape frost off the glass, it will start reving before I get the windows clear. Seems to only cycle like that for about a minute. Probably a minor bug in the ECU program, should be feedback enough to let the idle be steady.I do not think the amount of gas in the tank has anything to do with it.
we studied an issue like this WAAAY back in university regarding PID controllers. It's just reacting to inputs from engine sensors (temperature, etc.) and is going through the algorithm...the programming just isn't perfect so (correct me if i'm wrong because it was awhile ago..) the dampening factor on the oscillation curve is not high enough and it ends up giving you a few cycles of noticable up and down reving.
I have signatures turned off so I'm not even sure what mine says in this space!

At the end of the day its a a good several minute drive to the first stop so by then the car was probably warmed up enough.

I think someone needs to go to eagle river and lay down the law for her. However, I'm busy. Maybe you can do it Mav.

Yes, I have the same "problem" so I let it warm for two minutes and it's fine.....I wonder if the Legacy GT will do it?

Never had this problem but I've heard it's not good to have a quarter tank or less in the winter and let it sit. They say that condensation builds up in the tank. Maybe that was the problem? Not sure who I heard it from but I feel quilty now when I fall below a quarter tank!
