Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix Commercial Song Help!

Post by darqleo »

This car commercial started airing earlier this year, but I still haven't found what the song was. I don't think they play the commercial anymore, but I was told that it was for the Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix.I'll explain the commercial as best I can, the song plays throughout the whole commercial:It starts out with an African American dude at his apartment, going through his LPs for the night's gig. Then it cuts to him putting his LPs in his car. Then it cuts to him driving it to the club, getting down to the song as if it was on the radio. Then it cuts to him DJing the song at the club, really grooving to it.Then it cuts to an African American girl dancing to it by herself in front of the camera, in slow-mo, with a crowd of people dancing to it in the background. Then it ends with the car logo. The song was made entirely of guitar riffs and drums and it's groovy as hell... not in a nu-metal way either, more like a dance song. The guitars sound like samples, so it might be a remix of a song, but most likely just samples cut together into a dance mix. There are no vocals.Anyone?

I believe the song you are referring to is Chocolate Elvis, by Tosca.See:http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id ... ead?id=56I couldn't find a good download of the song to compare, but if I do, I will post.

I'm not sure that the song he heard was Chocolate Elvis. I thought the Chocolate Elvis song was only in the Canadian Vibe commercials, but I could be wrong.

I don't think the song is Elvis Chocolate. There's no guitar in that song. Elvis Chocolate was for Canadian commercial.

I was wrong. That's what happens when I don't do my research.Found a forum post using Google. Apparently it says the music used with the "DJ" commercial is unavailable commercially. Read the post by Mootiwan.http://forums.spinner.com/showthread.ph ... 2844Here's another thread with info. (see 3rd paragraph)http://www.autointell.com/News-2002/Jul ... 10.htmView the commercial:http://www.pangeapartners.com/portfolio/breaking/

PASS IT ALONG - A) GM/Pontiac picked the song becuase in kind of match up with the theme of the "Pass it Along" ad campaign from last fall.B) Saw on a VH-1 "One Hit Wonders" that the band gave all the money they got from GM to anti-car environmental groups.

Original quote:Chumbawamba, those crazy British rockers from the ‘90s, is back again, this time in commercial form. In a surprising show of horrible taste, General Motors has paid the group $99,000 for the use of one of their songs, “Pass It Along,” despite the fact that no one has heard from them since “Tubthumping” annoyed millions in 1997. The interesting thing about this story is that, instead of buying things that they need like food, water, more alcohol (specifically whiskey, vodka, cider and lager drinks) and false teeth, the group plans to donate the money to an anti-capitalist campaign group. Word on the street is that this anti-capitalist group is none other than Winona Ryder, who has denounced capitalism for communism, believing that everyone should contribute to her welfare, specifically those that run boutiques in Los Angeles.

Checked http://www.songtitle.info for confirmation, the vibe commercial in fact used Tosca - Chocolate Elvis as it's song...could have been remixed for use in the commerical though. This site is primo for finding songs from shows & commercial.

After much internet research, the song isn't by Tosca and it is indeed for the Pontiac Vibe. Here is the commercial :http://www.pangeapartners.com/portfolio/breaking/. Turns out the song was created specifically for the commercial by these people/person :http://www.fearlessmusic.net/index.php
