Pimp My Ride: Your Favorite Episode

Post by ragingfish »

Ok, seems like many of us are fans (or at least have seen an episode or two) of Pimp My Ride.So what's your favorite epsiode?Mine is from Season 1 -- the episode with the 1969 VW Baha Bug. Not only did it look cool to start, but when they FINISHED that car, I wanted it more than anything! Some pics:BEFORE: AFTER:I mean, how COOL is that car after they repainted it and put some sweet tires and wheels on it?I LOVE that car! Wonder if she'll sell it to me...

I liked the one with the guy who had a Ford Escort that was actually two cars barely welded together and they ended up giving him a new Scion. His story was cool, about how that's the only vehicle his family has and they all depend on it to get them where they're going. My favorite car they redid was from season one...the Civic that they painted purple and put the Lamborghini doors on. That was cool.

hardly ever watch the show, but what ever season it was from, my fav was the old yellow truck with "chick magnet" (I think) air freshioner hanging from the rear view mirror. It was repainted and pimped out rather nice.I'm not into pimped cars though, Tuner Transformation is more interesting because those guys actually take cars in better shape and beef up the power and not load $30,000 into a $100 car thats still runs like crap and still worth $100 when they are done cause the red book does not list car's worth by whats in it.But the Bug one was good to.

My understanding is when they "pimp" the cars, they do all necessary repairs on them too...they don't let them run crappy...that would defeat the pimped-ness!

My favorite episode is also the one with the girl driving a Honda Civic. She drove her sick grandmother back and forth to the hospital in that thing. I didn't think the car was particularly great, but just found the owner more deserving than most. It was funny when Xzibit showed up and she told her grandmother that he was there to pimp their ride. He corrected her and said "fix" the ride. Also at the end, she told him that this was her first CD player. He asked if it was her first CD player in a car. She then explained that it was her first CD player ever.

I thought that civic looked great...until they put that wing on.The wing destroyed everything good about that car. They went from pimp to rice IMHO.

I watch the show all the time, the only thing I watch on MTV now. I'm not really watching it to see what they do to the cars, there is only so many times you can put speakers and an X Box in a car, don't get me wrong they do some cool things.BUT... I think the show is funny as sh*t, X is so funny with the stuff he says. I always try to catch it when it's on.

Just started watching the show, no fav yet but like the show! New fav show! Taking real life daily drivers and transforming them. Beats the TLC Overhaul'in show since some of those cars either need nothing, famous people cars or need a lot and are classics. Nothing wrong with classics but the MTV show is better to me since they take $1,500 cars and drop $20,000 into them! Yeah cool VW! Although I love your quote "98% of FORDS and on the road, the other 2% made it home".

OK, my fav so far would be the girl that had a 1987 Blazer, 2DR, 2WD. Her first car and she rolled it onto its side! Still driving it and the rear quarter window had scrapes from when it slid onto its side. She used a screw driver to start it and open the rear window. Lots of body damage, the back seat did not lock and no one could sit in it since it wanted to fold when the brakes were applied and she said she put 10K into the truck. She just loved it but I would never put 10K into a 1987 beat Blazer. Anyway the truck turned out awesome! I would have liked it without the fireplace in the back but hey, it was unique!Yeah I wondered if they checked the engine, susp, trans on the rides, you would think so since it would look cool but still be an unreliable POS and cannot have that!

I dont like that show. First off, how do you "pimp" a car? Secondly, they are all ghetto-fied cars with 69 tvs in them, brain sloshing sound systems, gaudy chrome, and barely anything done where it counts, the engine. I gues if I had to pick a car off the show though, I'd go with the VW bus they did for that deep sea diver kid. Just because they restored it to almost original shine with out spoilers or 48 inch spinnez.I love that show OverHaulin'. Now THAT is a great show. Same concept as "Pimp My Ride" but with real cars done by Foose. Challengers, stangs, vettes, trucks, SUVs jacked up not slammed. Wunderful performance upgrades and some cute looking cosmetics lol

I do like some of the OverHaul'in shows and cars but like the daily drivers better since there are lots of shows i.e. Hot Rod T.V. and others that deal in nothing but the classics and fixing them. I agree with the 69 T.V.s! Way too many in a 2 door car, com on! Pimp my Vibe! Aires in 2005, first show in Michigan with my red Vibe!

MTV picks them and helps their pathetic rides out and then they turn around and want sell them! A-holes!!!! BTW the bug never sold. She probably is wanting too much. Same with the Cutlass! Sure you CAN do what ever you want with the car but MTV should pull the plug on the show because if idiots like these... "help me MTV, I have no money to fix my car" (I can certainly make money once you fix it though...)

Yeah that is pretty selfish...don't apply to the show if you're gonna sell it right away. That's why you NEVER help modify someone's car unless they are actually into cars otehrwise they will be ungrateful and wont understand the sentimental value of the car...same thing goes for ALOT of girls. Most girls I know want fancy BMWs and Cadilacs but they don't give a sh*t about what happens to them...they hit their door into someone else's car "whoops...oh well no big deal" I see it all the time and it pisses me off.

I want to strangle people who open their door into my car and go "oops, oh well, no big deal." Especially the ones that have chipped my paint and left dents in my car.The girl selling the bug tried to make excuses but I still don't buy it for the money she was asking. She probably just wants to buy a new car.

The only reason that I'm selling her is because I drive a lot everyday to and from work and school (almost 100 miles), and I feel like I'm driving her into the ground. I want to sell her to someone who can take care of her the way I wish I could.... I do not think so KRISSY!!! Nice try, you get an F! Lets see, if it was a POS before Pimp My Rides and you were driving it into the ground, why go on the show knowing full well you will be driving it for school and "into the ground"? That VW was well used and with all the mods done now, is not original far from it and worth too much, less are time goes on. Give it to ragingfish, he will know what to do with it!

These people may not be selling the cars for the reasons they claim but I do think may be forced to sell the cars to cover the taxes they have to pay on the mods. Taxes are calculated on the full MSRP of all of the parts used (gotta add labor too). If I am not mistaken the total amount is considered additional income and taxed accordingly. Now imagine that you barely have enough cash to even maintain the car as is (obvious given the condition of some of these rides) but then you are required to pay taxes that amount to thousands of $'s...money you don't have. What would you do?

Isn't the point of the show to bring on people who's cars are in desperate need of a makeover/repairs??? NOT making a profit for someone?? Argh, that just sucks to see them on eBay.

So I've been watching this "Overhaulin" show. It's not bad, but I have one serious issue. The hosts. They are irritating as all hell. Especially the girl. But that aside, it's not a bad show.

As I've been watching this show for the past few months, I've often wondered how many of them would end up on Ebay. That does suck, and taxes or not, I think that these people are really using the show. "Oh look at me, I was on MTV with my POS car!" Please, these people are pathetic. They think that since their car was put on the show they've run into a little goldmine for themselves. I'm glad that these cars didn't sell. Also, as anyone who is really into cars should easily realize, these cars don't seem to really go through a top restoration job. They're thrown together quickly and intended just to go dramatically from clunk clunk to bling bling. I doubt that the work done on them will hold up over time. Certainly not a car worth spending the kind of money on that they're asking on Ebay. If they can find someone stupid enough to bid $11,500 on it, they should sell it and run as fast as they can instead of trying to hold on for $18,000.All that being said, I thought that the classic Mustang resto was pretty cool. That thing was really a piece of junk. Too bad the girl who owned it was such a stupid ditz that I don't think she had a clue how much work had to go into that thing just to make it roadworthy. Most unique vehicle on there by far had to be the Dihatsu HiJet. It was an ugly POS when it went in, and was a slightly less ugly POS when it came out. The thing was so hard to get parts for that they really had to Mickey Mouse that thing back together. In either case, I could probably run to the grocery store and back faster than driving that thing.

I can't say that I have a favorite show, but it's certainly interesting. I'm much more of a fan of Overhaulin', the quality of work is a LOT better. I mean, in the episode where they did this one guy's CRX (guy had a kidney transplant, needed a lot of water) they used bondo to get rid of some dents. That would not fly /at all/ in Overhaulin. Then again, I don't find a lot of what's done on the show to be totally tasteful so mb that's why I am so harsh. I agree with the majority here about the ebay selling and all that stuff - totally sucks and uses MTV/the builders and shows total disrespect for what they do.
