Antirouille Metropolitain (Oil treatment to prevent rust)

Based on the recommendation of my previous car mechanics (my old Honda), I'm planning to get my Vibe, a rust treatment at Antirouille Metropolitain.My old Honda, did suffer toward the end (I kept it 13 years, but severe rust around the wheel housing, hood, and one door that was once damage, started around 9 to 10 years of age) of rust damage, which kind of prevent me of selling, and having a good price.I don't know, how long I will keep my Vibe (I'm hoping at least 5 to 7 years), but knowing myself, if that Vibe is still going strong at that age, and I'm not bored with it, I might run it to the ground.I don't mind paying 80 to 100 $CDN each year, if it keep it very clean and rust free (hoping that if I sell it, I won't have to lower the price, or if it help finding buyer).So what is your experience with these rust treatment, is it messy ?, does it leak like hell, ruin your driveway for 2 to 3 days each year ?But most importantly, is it good (keep the car rust free, for years, despite the drawback).Thanks in advance.P.S.: My former Honda car mechanics did told me that he saw some of his Honda customers that used Antirouille Metropolitain, and he was amazed how rust free their cars were (even with 11 or 12 years under the belt).

I use Krown rustproofing myself. I usually get it done late in the fall so that hot weather doesn't make it drip too much. I would park on the street for a few days after the treatment as it does drip a fair bit at first. A friend has a 12 year old Toyota Corolla that looks new other than scratches and dents and he has Krowned it every year. That is with city driving on Ottawa and Gatineau's heavily salted roads and severe winters.

Ok it is now too late to back down.So today I went to that rust proofing place (Antirouille Métropolitain - Metropolitan Rustproofing), got my car drilled & spray with oil.If I remember it right, they drilled two holes (for each side) in the front Rocker panels, one in the rear Rocker panel, then one hole per door (in the most aft and thinner portion of the door, so it will go everywhere) and one hole per side in the tailgate.They spray thru those holes, then spray the underside, wheel & fenders inside, hood & portion of the engine bay (especially where the suspension is attached). After that rust proofing session, I had to go to work (Saturday in overtime), so it was dripping in my company parking lot rather then in my driveway.As I left the office, it was raining (but it had a chance of operating without rain for several hours, but I'm told by people who done it before, that it does not really matter, a small rain will not wash away the oil from the metal).Tomorrow, should be sunny and I plan to wash my car in order to remove excess oil from places where you can spoil your clothes.It is obviously a heart breaking experience (LOL) to have your "baby" Vibe being drilled all over, but it is for a good cause. I have to admit, I was impressed by that shop, very clean (the operator does not get oil on themselves, then inside your car), professional, a real clockwork process, the operator take good care of your car (in fact the whole process can by watched thru large window).Tomorrow I will see a bit better, what kind of good job (or not) they did.I guess, they are doing a good business, some money, but at the same time, I was wondering how profitable this is, since they seem to process 8 to 10 car an hour (at least on that Saturday morning, maybe at peek period, they use the second lane in the garage with more staff and manage to process even more) there a crew of ten people, including the receptionist, so roughly one salary per car and the charge $73 CDN per car (but every one get a $10 rebate the next year), I guess that the oil and everything else (towel, Kraft paper, stationary, etc.) cannot be less than $5 maybe $10 per car.In retrospect, it is probably profitable (they have been in business since 25+ years), half of it is profit and you don't have to invest to get repeat customer (once you hooked them, they come back by themselves).P.S.: As I was there, waiting for getting my car prepare, I saw some repeat customer (their car was already drilled, etc.) with car, maybe 7 or 8 years old, that look real clean, not a spot of rust. I will be very happy, if after 10 years, my Vibe look good (rust wise) when compared with my last Honda (the last 3 to 4 years were horrible as far as the rust is concerned).
