Ive got a set of CF PPI 6.5" and 5" coax speakers that i want to install this weekend in my vibe. Ive decided on useing vampire taps to i can avoid cutting the harness off. How will i know if i have the proper polarity and phase of the speakers (ie + to + and - to - not + to - or - to +). Ive never spliced in to a factory harness b4 ive always ran my own speaker leads from an amp so this is new ground for me.

I generally tell people to NEVER mess with the factory wiring, as much as you think you're saving now, it'll bite you down the road. I can't tell you how many people i've seen splicing their factory wiring, and having something go horribly, horribly wrong. I'd suggest doing yourself the favor and getting the matching wiring harnesses from Bestbuy/Circuit City. There's no way to go wrong, and it will prevent anything from happening to your factory wiring.

I agree with you Jahntassa. If you wanna play it safe, go ahead and do that. If you wanna do the splicing and stuff Use a multimeter to be sure of each wire. Test em out.Inder
