NAV DVD Alternator Noise & Songs greater than 10 minutes

I have a 2004 Vibe and love it...however my CD Changer has alternator noise on lower volume CD's, the dealer says that Pontiac is aware of the problem and will release a fix...6 months later I pushed them to try something..they installed a standard noise filter on the NAV unit in the dash but it did nothing..seems to me it should have been installed on the power leads to the CD changer as it is the only thing that produces the noise(CD's in dash don't)....also any song longer than 10 minutes will hang at 9:59 until you manually jump it across to 10:01. Anyone else seen this? Also if you know how to buy a new NAV DVD let me know...the dealer is clueless, except for finding the part on a 2005 Vibe and costing $371 and not sure that it is updated from the 2002 DVD that came with the car.

I have an 03 base with moon and tunes and have no problems with long tracks on my CDs...that's odd.

if its a new vibe they should replace it under warranty.

Are these CD-Rs or CD-RWs? Or are they store bought CDs? If you recorded them, I would suggest trying a different brand of CD-R to take care of the 10 minute glitch. As for the noise, I guess you might have to wait for GM/Toyota/ACDelco to come up with a fix for that.

i have the nav and changer, i also have one of the oldest vibes on this forum, and i have never had that problem. i think you should have the dealership replace the whole ball of wax and if that doesn't work then i would say to experiment more.Oh, and not to hijack the thread, but my vibe was build April of 2002 as a 2003 model.

Never had that problem (either one) with my '03. And that's with the PIE aux in adapter in-line too.

I hate to have whole unit replaced since I only have maybe 2 or 3 songs over the 10 minute thing....it's bearable for the time being but my warranty has got a while before it expires..and since no one else has seen this maybe I got a Friday afternoon job...and yes some are CDR's but some are just plain audio cd's...I'll see if it does it in the in dash player.
