Hi everyone,I am picking up my Vibe tomorrow. Does anyone have any general advice on maintaining it for the long run? Synthetic oil recommended? It now has 30,000 miles on it. I will also be installing a trailer hitch. Is there an easy plug in trailer wiring harness available? Best place to get a new or used hitch, or does anyone have a used one they want to part with? I really like the looks of the Vibe, it has the low profile tires/sport wheels. How will this be in the snow? Thanks, Mick

So dino oil is my choice.

Welcome, Mick. The only item I can contribute to is the tires in snow. As you can tell from my sig, I believe in a separate rim/winter tire combo. Last year they saved my you-know-what. Much more snow around Detroit than in the previous few years. This year, we've had under five inches of snow in two months. Go figure. But they vastly improve your handling in most snow conditions. With our temps above 45 every other day, I have been cursing the wasted mileage I won't be able to put on these babies in a real winter. You know, like New England got socked with last year. Lower profile tires, by design, don't usually come with a whole lot of help in the winter grip department. In the middle of August? Plenty.
Be carefull with the round radio Knobs. They will break. DO NOT Push on Push off. Just turn the volume up or down. Be carefull with the suspension. It is to stiff for me!Get the Recalls done if it hasn't been done.
I too recommend a seperate set of wheels and tires for winter. You don't want those gorgeous 18" GT wheels getting ruined by salt and sand. 16" wheels are the absolute smallest wheels that will fit over the 2009-2010 Vibe GT brakes. The 2009-2010 Vibe GT bolt pattern is 114.3x5.I personally use Penzoil 5W20 and Toyota oil filters in both our 2009 GTs. The oil is extremely easy to change on the 2.4L so if at all possible, do it yourself.
