2005 Pontiac Vibe replacement headlight assembly

Post by streaks1783 »

My headlight assemblies are getting really hazy and I have already cleaned them up numerous times. I am at the point that I would like to replace them. I would love to get some aftermarket ones, such as Spyder, or something to that effect. Black housing, clear lenses. The only thing that I can find similiar is the 2003-2004 headlights with the black bezel. Are there any others out there?

There really are only OEM style headlight housings. As you discovered, the 03-04 had black bezels, whereas the 05-08 had chrome. They are 100% interchangeable.

As for aftermarket ones like projectors, you'd have to retrofit them yourself. A reasonable quality retrofit is about $300 in parts, not including new housings. Link below is how to retrofit.

I found just some work to repair of the old headlight lens worked pretty good. These pictures are from a few weeks ago

That's what I figured, but I thought I would ask to be sure. I really love the look of your headlights! You did an amazing job! I might just buy the 03-04 headlights with the black bezel for now and then upgrade them at a later date or fix up the old ones with a retrofit. Have you done anything with the LEDs instead of HIDs? I was thinking I'd rather go with LEDs.

What did you use to get them looking that clear? I still think I'm going to go for the 03-04 lights with the black bezel, but I may do a retrofit on my current ones down the road if I can clean up the lenses good enough.

Nah, I haven't tried to pick up LEDs for the projectors. The rest of the bulbs in the car are LED though.

I wouldn't put ultra bright headlights in a street car.

1) I know how bad LED's are dealing with the heat put out by the high power ones.
2) I have more respect for the vehicles in front of me. I don't want them blinding me, so I'm not going to blind them.
