2003 Vibe GT ECU

Post by AnonymousStoner »

hey guys i own a 2004 vibe GT and i have the Smog pump/secondary air injection system deleted. i have heard from multiple sources that running a 2003 Vibe GT ECU will improve performance in my vehicle. i am having a hard time finding the correct ECU... it seems like listings online from the base,AWD,and GT versions of the ECU all get grouped together. if someone could provide some identification number for the specific ECU that i should be looking for, that would be awesome. thanks

Came in the mail today. Put it in my car and the check engine light finally is off! It's only ever been the codes from the missing sensors on the Smog pump system. But I'm so happy the light is off! Car runs better too, the lift engagement is slightly lower rpm and allows for seamless lift shifting. It really feels like this is how the engine was supposed to operate with the transmission.

No headaches to work out?
Yessir, 03 GT ECU just plugs right in on the 04 GT without issue.

sooo... you just ganked the parts?
You have to put little filters on any vacuum lines or plug any hoses?

Did you have to pull the bumper?

i did get a newish exhaust manifold with the motor i imported. this manifold did not have the pipe inlet that connects back to the smog pump. i dont know if deleting this system and using the factory 2004 vibe GT exhaust manifold will be ok.(maybe just plug the pipe?) so thats why i deleted it in the first place. i did just plug some vac lines with a small screw i found that fit into the hose. the car ran fine. just threw 2 codes for the 2 sensors disconnected from the smog pump. after i swaped in the 2003 ECU(took like 20mins its under the glovebox) the check engine light went out as that model year doesnt have a smog pump. there are a few other differences but my main attraction was to have my CEL working correctly. the little pump is still under my bumper i couldnt be bothered to get that thing out at the time. but all the hoses are removed. i was eventually gonna add an onboard compressor and a airhorn into that spot so ill let you know how i get that little pump out when the time comes.

Right on man. Thanks for getting back to me.

I'd forgotten how much of an asset this forum can be.
