A/C Evaporator Core Plastic Retaining Clamps

Post by mvibe2006 »

I took my 2006 Vibe to the shop yesterday for its very first A/C repair & recharge since leaving the factory! The mechanic told me that he replaced two rubber seals on the HP and LP side of the A/C Evaporator Core that were leaking. He said that there is a plastic retaining clamp for each of the two refrigerant lines that connect to the A/C Evaporator Core which need to be replaced. He said that GM doesn't make or sell these clamps anymore, and he's having difficulty finding an alternate supplier. I suggested that he call the local Toyota dealership, since the Toyota Matrix is almost identical to the Pontiac Vibe. Does anybody know of an after market supplier for these plastic retaining clips? I think that the clamps shown in this video may be what he is referring to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFWOPu-WbwI

There is a PDF of a 2003 Matrix parts catalog here at http://www.genvibe.com/images/misc/manu ... atalog.pdf

In the middle of page 2 of that PDF (page 1174 of some unspecified huge volume), in the AC/HEATER?VENTILATION section, the clamps are identified as:

6. Clamp, Evap Pipe 88718-02170
14. Clamp, Suction Hose 88718-02160

a quick google shows both are available for purchase at multiple sites
