Rear Axle Bushings

Post by vibe63 »

Has anyone ever replaced the rear axle trailing link bushings? If so, where did you find the tool to remove/insert them?

Judging by vibe63's post history he's got an 05 with a 1zz, but couldn't find if they've got AWD or FWD.
For the FWD cars the trailing arm bushings are a bolt in setup.

Pretty straight forward.

You are correct about my car. '05 FWD. The bushings bolt in after you press the old ones out and press the new ones in. The tool I mentioned is shown in this video. Start watching at the 4:35 mark.

Thank you for the reply! I wasn't able to track down one that looked like that, but this Honda/Acura one looks like it might do the job. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G55KJ1Q/

It's a one time fix. Not looking to buy one, but to rent from local parts store. But, I doubt they'd have a tool that's so rarely used. I may have to rig something up. Apparently, I'm replacing something no one has done. I'm into preventative maintenance and, after 15 years, I figured it was time to replace those bushings. Been car hunting, but can't find anything to my liking, other than Buick Encore - it has many of the interior features of the Vibe.

Go to a local Napa/Car Quest type of place. Those locally owned parts stores know their stuff.
